  • Do Brompton not mind you dealing with Kinetics? I was under the impression they were very much against what Ben does and had tried to pursue legal action against him?

  • We are not allowed to advertise modified new bikes online, they cannot stop us dealing with a certain brand.

  • After trying to survive riding the kojak for a couple of months, I decided to throw in the towel and get some sensible tyres for everyday commute to work. Luckily around this time Brompton brought out their marathon racer in gumwall to sort of make the CHPT3 to the OG state.

Also upgrading the the brake pads to swissstop bxp and changing a fresh pair of cables has done wonders to its braking power.

  • A little play is allowed at the wheel end or wheel, I believe (@R.hobbs will know more)

  • If it’s a Sturmey wheel yes a little play is normal. If it’s the hinge, 2mm movement at the back of the frame (dropout) = new hinge

I'm trying to find a new pre-2018 silver double-pivot rear brake caliper (possibly a set with the front one to match the slightly-bronze anodised finish of that generation of silver calipers).

  • No luck! Long gone now. Will keep looking.

  • I just had a look at these and I feel like 20” wheels would be a massive upgrade in usability for distance?

    Probs well spenny though.

    Anyway, here’s my B75 :)

  • Yes, just slightly less nimble / quick to speed / compact.

  • Brompton rims are 349 mm, common 20 inch rims are 406 mm, so the difference is nearer two inches than four.

I suspect being able to run fat tyres is a bigger deal than the diameter.

  • For the moulton, 20 are perfect and on one have randonners for £5 i think.

  • Anyone thinking of a disc brake upgrade... hold on 6 months for a project upcoming.

  • @R.hobbs, I’m after a rim, silver, to build up onto a BWR. You got anything used/new to hand?

  • course... free if you can dig it out of my shed!

  • Still dreaming of tinkering with some braze ons on a Brompton. Any broken or just lonely frames/triangles out there?

  • Will PM you...

  • Lovely, but a bit far for me! The wife has put rather a large ding in hers. Let me know what postage to that there London would be, plus whatever you want for it.

  • Where are people buying their schwalbe tan wall racers from?

  • Brompton are the only place... won’t sell them to dealers. Wankers.
