spoke (typed) to Christina at Flying Dutchman Bikes today and she advised trying are-set on the 3-button cadence control on handlebars. So far seems to be working ok. (fingers crossed)
NB, If I eventually end up paying for manual, I would probably splash out on Rolhoff hub
