Any alternatives to MetaZ, I've got to rename a shit load of tv episodes on my hard drive before I copy them over to use with Plex, so trying to get the naming convention right.
Currently renaming files using Filebot, but with episodes it does this weird 1x01, and I'm wanting it to be S01E01.
Any other title editing apps out there I should consider, otherwise I'm in for long evenings of copying and pasting..Thanks

I took my MBP into the Apple shop, Covent Garden to ask about the battery issue. Chap checked my account and said that when they replaced the keyboard in 2018 they replaced the whole top of the laptop which included the battery, and that it was at 95% capacity.
His diagnosis was that the OS was borked, so reinstalled it and updated the firmware at the same time, plus replaced two of the keys that had worn through the paint.
Laptop is now much faster and isn’t rinsing the battery in an hour, quite happy with the service.

Is there a way to completely merge the contents of a google calendar with an existing macOS calendar?
Or import the contents of the google calendar?
So not really import the google one as one of many calendars, but get it's contents into the mac one.In the end I will not be using the google calendar anymore (like to cut all ties if you will) - I just like to have the mac one from now on to use it on MacBook and iPhone.
I would love to do this without any additional / shit software.
Thanks for any help!

You can export the contents by clicking the three dots on next to the name of the calendar under 'My calendars' –> Settings and sharing –> Export calendar. Then you can import it into the Mac calendar and either copy and paste events into existing calendars, or merge by right clicking the newly-imported calendar in the sidebar and choosing one to merge into.

Thank you very much, appreciate your help.
Things are apparently a bit more complicated as on the persons (Android) smartphone the local (Huawei) calendar app was being synced with a (Huawei) tablet - via the google account - yet this "Phone"-calender does not show up in the google account when accessing it through a browser, and from the phone / tablet there's no option to export anything (without third party apps & faffing around).
Things like this is exactly why I am running back crying into the arms of the Apple ecosystem.
Maybe I'm just too old for this shit but I realised that it will take a lot less time and nerves if I just enter a hundred appointments by hand into the macOS calendar again and call it a day

Oh, yikes, that sounds a pickle. Perhaps a lovely evening adding events will be relaxing. Zen and the art of calendar administration.

I upgraded to Catalina the other week. After everything I'd read I made a new APFS volume, copied my Mojave install to it then upgraded the 'backup'. I also cleaned out old software, upgraded to 64 bit versions and gave everything a bit of a clean up.
So far though everything works great, no problems at all. Just me? I'd read so many horror stories but can't see any reason to switch back to my Mojave install at the moment.

I can't get the facetime camera to work on my macbook. I've tried the various ways to fix it. When I open terminal to try ' sudo killall VDCAssistant ' I get this error 'sudo: setrlimit(8): Invalid argument' - anyone know how to fix this or get the camera working?

Real Mac or Hack?
Despite my better judgement I made another hack, with an AMD processor, and put Catalina on it.Oddly everything works perfectly, including my LG 5K monitor inc speakers etc through TB3.
Pure magic. -

I tried to resist.
It’s pretty awesome and maybe the only one I know of using the UltraFine with full functionality without an add in card. -

Is there a way to use iCloud photo sync with an iPhone and a MacBook in a way that all the photos shot with the phone are synced to the Mac in a dedicated folder, without syncing all the things that are in the Mac's photo library to the iPhone?

New Air is out, plus some other things..
-
• #15246
Have you installed this? https://github.com/sudo-project/sudo
If not, don't. -
• #15247
The new Air looks nice, ordered a custom build (i7/16gb/1tb) to finally replace my mid-2013 11" i7/8gb/512 air. They didn't give me a covid-19 option during checkout though... Will be here as early (!) as 6th of April.
New iPad also looks neat btw.

Considering this configuration as well.
What I don't get is seeing how the i7 is just an additional €80 - why whould anyone go with the i5?
I see Apple does not specify which exact processors they're using in the new Airs on their website, but what reason is there to go for the slower i5 instead of an i7?
Heat? Battery life? -

Saving €80 - often legit
Uh, sorry, @Stonehedge didn't see the 'like' before 'MacBook'.
