Currently looking at these. I like the low level toe. Has anyone any other suggestions?

Got the wife's Clarks boots resoled after 10 years of fairly regular use. Not too bad.

Is that the black kip out leather? Which soles you going for?
(And how much, if you don't mind me asking? Could be tempted for my next pair of WLs)

New Trickers boots (eBay) have arrived - love the colour and very comfortable. I am thinking of selling my old ones if anybody is interested - Ilkley's - size is 71/2 but fit like a an 8.

Had some new boots from pediwear, from their Edward and James line made by other makers, the Wilkinson boot with danite sole. Nothing fancy but nicely made by Berwick 1707 and reasonably priced, feel better made than my Barker's. The laces however are crap, they clump and twist so you can't draw them through or untie properly. Are there forum approved casual boot laces?

Does anyone else have a problem padding a boot out. I have a nice pair of brogue boots. I'm a size 10 and the size is fine, the toe box fits well. but its the upper part of the boot I have issue with because ankles are pretty weedy and my feet are quite shallow, they don't fill the boot very well.

I've settled on combinations of different socks + different insoles for different boots, even for the same size from the same brand! My feet are normal/wide but similar to you not much volume / arch to fill a shoe so I get a crease in the leather behind the ball of my foot if I don't fill them out somehow.

New shoe day here too, Loake; Chester brogue and NOS Scafell both have rubber soles because leather soles and wet stone is death.

Should I get rubber soles put on leather soled shoes?
-
• #7223
No - maybe a metal toe protector.
-
• #7224
Yes. Topies (rubber half soles) is standard practice.

Is that over the top of the leather? glued on?
Ta!
@Tenderloin
Yes. I knew all those discount coffees would pay off one day.
Going to Costa Rica to check out coffee farms next week, good excuse to buy some over-specified, probably unsuitable posh boots.
