Anyone else wonder what Pangolin tastes like?
Chicken, probs. But crunchier.

So you and @Stonehedge are going for chicken, so smoker better than BBQ?
@Greenbank with swan, so roast dinner.

Are the scales a gourmand treat akin to artichoke leaves?

We had a good lol about this in our coronavirus incident management group at work today I can tell you! If they were "utilizing (sic) the guidance of international and local health authorities" they wouldn't have sent anyone home. They've had someone tested, that's all. Public Health England would not have advised them to send all their staff home on the basis of that.

Your friend (let's call him 'Chris') should use a separate bathroom (if possible) and stay in a closed bedroom with food left outside the door for him. Then the rest of the family can live as normal.
Sounds a bit like travel for work when you go for the room service option.

Exactly. But (probably) without the trouser press.

Given that this, and SARS came from animals and China - maybe others I don't know. Surely the Chinese have to do something about the actual cause of the problem - live animal trading markets etc.. If nothing else, it's in their economic interest.

I cling to the idea that this can be contained and eliminated, but from what we know about it that seems highly unlikely.
I also wonder how many countries there are where epidemics are developing with no reported cases. There is massive Chinese investment and presence in Africa - I find it hard to believe there are no cases in sub Saharan Africa.

I’m sure I read somewhere that they have. Let me check.

interesting, one must wonder if it is lip service and normal service will continue under the rader. As was the case with CFCs. That first image is pretty horrible.
Also, one must wonder why this did not happen after SARS.
Cultural differences aside, it must be embarrassing for the Chinese government.

Does this happen more often in China than other places? Just going by my fuzzy and usually IL informed memory but didn't Mers, bird flu, swine flu and others come from places other than China?

Prof. Neil Ferguson was on radio 4 this morning saying that chasing specific cases/outbreaks and trying to isolate them like they're doing in northern Italy is probably not that useful because an outbreak like that represents transmission over at least the last month and thousands of people infected. Essentially we'll always be slightly behind the curve, but general public health measures for preventing spread of the disease would be useful.

That first image is pretty horrible.
The worst thing is that American-style headline where they use a comma because they apparently can't be bothered to type "and". /bugbear
I see the Kipper couple on the cruise ship have put out a personal call to Boris to come rescue them. They say they're completely virus free, but they're clearly feverish if they think that's going to happen.
