Anyone got anything gravelly in medium / 54cm that they’re looking to sell?

Actually, the hub I am having problems with is the Nexus 11 speed on my cargo bike. I had it serviced 4 times now and keep having issues with recurring intermittent skips. This caused me a nice shin scar in the past and I came very close to an off.

Problem with it is that unlike derailleur based systems, I just cannot fix it myself or swap for a cheap part. As soon as there's something wrong with it it's off to the shop or replace wheel, shifters, the lot.

I’d probably get the arkose alfine instead

11 speed has way more issues than the 8

That seems to be the general rule = mo speeds, mo trouble. Until you get to 14 with Rohloff, when there's no trouble.

I have one - not ridden yet though.
Seems decent (no visible wrinkles of bubbles in the carbon).

11 speed are dog shit.

8 speed Alfine is reasonable.
8 speed nexus is meh
7 speed nexus is ok

Not heard anything about the latest wave of 5 (?) speed nexus but apparently meant to be better.

Rohloff is king.

IMO unless you’re a granny a derailleur setup beats hub gear other than rohloff.

The arkose is probably cheap enough to be worth a punt.

Have about 5000km on a 2018 Arkose A8 - Alfine 8 speed.

It’s fine. It’s not needed maintenance on it other than change the chain every 1500km or so and a few tweaks of the gear cable barrel adjuster. Not even cleaned it, but it does have full ‘guards.

inferior quality, some different component/costs cut? I had 8 speed nexus, piece of shit, Mrs TM has 9 speed Alfine - smooth and solid.

It isn't. I mixed up alfine and Nexus. So yeah. alfine 11

also have alfine 8 (di2) and normal on the cargo bike, exceptionally good
