It all has to go through the same semi-automated filtering process anyway.
- A significant portion of the human race is too lazy or stupid to put the right things in the right bins.
- What's allowable in each category is complicated and inconsistent anyway (most recycling centres don't bother with shredded paper and as for plastic...)
Having the different bins is just ceremony.

That Westminster makes you separate the different types of recycling in to different grubby bins but then puts everything in to the same bin truck when they pick it up. Infuriating.
