Running bar end shifter cables completely under the bar tape, any (good) reason why not to do it?

Depends on the bend I guess, but setting them up the trad way makes for a shorter, straighter run with likely better shifting.

True, no arguing there. Just don't like the looks of it. Maybe it has to grow on me.
