Hmm, as an accountant at one point the (ludicrously overkill) instruction going out to accountants from on high was that SARs had to be filed for businesses who were aware that they had been overpaid and hadn't made an effort to repay the amount.
I don't know what the basis for that was but I assumed that there must be some legal basis.

Accountancy is weird. It's related to the law, but it's a separate thing. Legally, if someone pays you money by mistake, you are obliged to pay it back as and when they ask for it, but until then you just have to look after it for them and not spend it. After six years(1), it's yours.
(1) A topic of hot debate amongst lawyers, believe it or not. It might be six years from the date on which the person who made the mistaken payment learns of the mistake. This depends on the proper interpretation of the word 'mistake' in s. 32(1)(a) of the Limitation Act 1980. As you can imagine, I'm a real hit at parties with all this smooth lawyer talk.

is there a carbon fork out there (rim brake) that has internal routing for dynamo?
-

this, indeeed ;-) they effectually make it impossible to fit any (Shimano) group with drop bar levers... to their no 1 gravel bike, 2020 model.

I have to concede to storing 3/4 bikes outside. If I don’t get this, what else is better?

Asgard sheds - we have one out front and I really rate it. You are welcome to have a closer look if you are in SE London

Cheers. This looks like what I need. Love the shot with everyone sitting on top.

Did you buy direct? How does it turn up?
-
• #100534
We bought direct and paid for the installation. The installation was worth every penny. The panels are heavy and awkward and tricky to setup. There is value in having a couple of experienced guys show up and knock it up in an hour or so. Much faster than anything I could do.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll do that. It’s not ideal as the bikes going into it are precious and I’m scared of spiders, but I ride less than 100 miles on these ones each year and they are taking up a lot of room in what will shortly be an open plan room. I like that you can have shelves in there.
Although it will fit at the side of the house, it will only just. And then I wouldn’t be able to get the bikes in and out, so it will sit in plain view of french doors, which is a bit of a pain but can’t be helped.

We put our Asgard tool shed up ourselves. Wasn’t too difficult. But I am sure they would do it faster.
-
• #100537
They have front entry style ones too that may better suit your space.
Ours is on the front of the house and under CCTV and no one has ever tried to get into it. It's not that it's inpenetrable, just really hard, noisy, time-consuming work to try to get into. There are easier targets than ours.

how easily should bb30 bearings press into a frame? I'm building up a 2nd hand supersix and on the right hand side bearing I could push the bearings in with my hand. it took some force but didn't need a tool. Is that an issue?
I'm using a wheels mfg threaded bb30 to gxp bb if that makes any difference.

Yes, on further consideration, this might be better. And I think I’ll fit three in there. I don’t think there’s a security risk, rather I don’t like the idea of the bikes being in a damp atmosphere.

I have an Asgard and although I remember it was quite costly, am very pleased that we paid to have it installed. Asgard do insist on a well levelled concrete base.

It’s going on here. Do you think they’ll be ok with it?

I expect so, but worth sending them the photo to confirm. I believe an even floor is required to ensure tight tolerance bolt holes aligned, door mechanisms etc. Our base was OK, not fantastic but had no problems.

That makes a huge difference, and RTFM; it explicitly says that a slip fit is fine.

Someone want to refer me to the "American Express Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card" please? It's a small amount of free money for each of us.
-
• #100545
I’ll see if I can. Ang on.

• #100546
Yep here we go:

• #100547
Thanks. I thought it was more than a measly extra tenner, but I guess I can't complain about free money
-
• #100548
I didn't even know they did referrals.
-
• #100549
It was mentioned in the T&Cs when I was looking at the card anyway, thought someone on here was likely to have one. Suppose you've not heard of it because people don't bother for such small sums

Ladies' bikes query. I'm looking for a 1x8/9/10 bike with disc brakes and carbon forks. Is there a better or more affordable option than the Pinnacle Neon 5?
Choices from Cannondale, Specialized, Trek, are all pretty grim.
Thanks, curious.
