The chrono dials do sweet fuck all.
LOL

One day I would like to own a real one...
-
• #41429
Me too. But it’s not going to happen. Something like a Visodate or a Junghans Max Bill is a bit more realistic for me.
-
• #41430
It looks huge ..44?
-
• #41431
It’s 41mm. I have slender wrists like a child or old lady.

• #41433
This is so good.

It did have the look of being worn a bit tbh ... but he’s done well , maybe he could afford a haircut and a shave .
So much money -
• #41435
maybe he could afford a haircut and a shave .
rude >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
he looks like a total badass.
-
• #41436
Do you think he’d sell it ?
-
• #41437
he didn't say he'd never worn it.
-
• #41438
Hoodwinkee said he’d never worn it. One more in the “lies” column for them.
-
• #41439
I know ... i was just messing
But the valuer was calling it as NOS, and that to me ( and it’s controversial on here) means not used .
I would be curious to know if he sold
Appearance comment aside , he didn’t look a fella that would be bothered by the value , you could do a lot with that amount , for yourself or for others.
Keeping it in a bank seems a waste tbh .
In a world where folk have been seen with Richard Mille on their wrists riding bikes I think plenty would pay that and wear it .

There’s a video of something similar of a rare Rolex diver and the value was astonishing.
But in the age of google , do you not think the owners have a vague idea -
• #41441
Yeah - I think that kinda goes on what the valuer said. A watch doesn't get scratched by sitting in it's box in a deposit box for five decades... But still - pretty remarkable. His reaction was great.

• #41442
I’ve actually not watched it yet...

That's what a colleague of mine said, but you must bear in mind the sparseness in the US. Many, many places still have internet connections that are the speed of dial up. Obviously everyone knows a Rolex is a Rolex but he may have had no idea it'd increased in value.
Imagine if Antiques Roadshow wasn't visiting West Fargo, North Dakota. It may never have seen the light of day.

There's 10.73 people per sq mile in North Dakota. 701.1 by comparison in the UK. Really is so sparse.

A maté of mine collects Tudor watches , he went to a vintage military watch convention in the UK and someone brought their collection in .
I would have held on very tightly to the case

Man. Collections like that are proper mental. Like that meetup for vintage Rolex guys in Liverpool last year. Was insane.
-
• #41447
It's insane cause they're all the same...
-
• #41448
You just outed yourself as a fake WIS my friend.
-
• #41449
I may do it again... What is a WIS?

Weird .. but to the collector, they probably are all different.
This quartet he thought could be close to 1.25M
Does anybody have any interest in this knockoff IWC Portugieser? I bought it on a trip to China when I was getting glasses.
It’s got an automatic movement and I continue to be surprised by its time keeping. The chrono dials do sweet fuck all. The strap is plastic. I’ve attached a pic of the genuine article so you can see the colour a bit better.
No idea what to ask as I can’t remember what I paid. £40 posted? Make me an offer. I’ll donate a fiver to the forum whatever I get for it.
Edit: it’s more rose gold than it looks in these pics.
