Sounds like it's not been installed properly.

Clarkes.

Bought a fully built bike. Felt a bit stiff so replaced all the cables, made no difference. DA 7800 is just a very different feel I guess.

How about fly to Klagenfurt (Sleezyjet). There's a train station 10 minutes walk from the terminal (Klagenfurt Annabichl Bahnhof) that will take you to Villach and then on to Hermagor/Nassfeld, which is up there in the mountains - you can even go to Italy, too. From Villach you can get a train to Salzburg without any problem. OBB website is your friend.

Some research has revealed that sram use 1.1mm gear inners, 0.1mm thinner than usual. Sigh.

Stiff, high friction, noisy and awkward.
Sounds about right for Sram.

Ditto to brakes, use campagnolo/sram cabling.
Clarks is what I use tho, as they're thinner than Shimano (hence universal).

Yeah I never had any issues with cable 'girth' and I was pretty slapdash in my approach to selecting cables.

If you go for the rear rack, practice with a large sack of compost first...
Post of the year... And it's only January...

A nice lightweight set on AliX if you're not in a rush

Circulate the heating somehow?
^that's a guess
-
• #100415
Air recirculation. It takes cabin air and pushes it through the heater, rather than taking fresh external air.
-
• #100416
Novel reverse gear placement.
Either that or recirculates air rather than bringing fresh from outside.
Edit: What tester said -
• #100417
Ah ok cheers. Is there any benefit to this? I guess the air is potentially warmer than the outside air already?
-
• #100418
I use it in long tunnels.

Just bagged some on eBay, cheers :)

It keeps the fetid warm air inside the car if that's what you want. It also keeps the air conditioned air inside so that you can cool it quicker. In most cars with the A/C on it boosts the output of the fan but not always when you have it on the windscreen.
Theoretically it could keep out stinks. -
• #100421
Gotcha. As there are often 2 small children in the car, ideally I'd want the stinks to travel from inside the car (where they're generated) to the outside.

Is there any benefit to this?
Faster heating (or cooling, if you have AC) of the cabin. The disadvantage on cold days is that humidity builds up (occupants generating water vapour), so your windows mist up more.

Tunnels vary; Limehouse is longer than Rotherhithe, but it's modern and properly ventilated. As a result, Limehouse is OK with fresh air inlets open, Rotherhithe stinks and you definitely want to remember to switch to recirculation before entering.

Any carbon seat post out there with as secure and easy to use a mounting system as a Thomson, plus setback, available in 27.2?
Would like carbon as the frame is alu so looking to add some comfort - although if nothing meets the specs then will just get Thomson and feel the bumps...

To clarify, what cable were you using? as Shimano are a big no-no.
