Check ebay, there's usually a couple of sweaters on there at any given time

Maybe this?

I've got a few sweaters from Labour and Wait. Not this particular brand, but I've been really impressed with the quality.
I wore this more or less daily for 2-3 years and it barely shows
https://www.labourandwait.co.uk/collections/clothing/products/marine-sweater
Then got this
https://www.labourandwait.co.uk/collections/clothing/products/guernsey-sweater-navy
And been wearing that daily for 2-3 years (fuck I'm getting old) and it just had a thread go in the neck, but that was easy to repair
I also have their Fisherman roll neck

For the really cold days. Don't think it has had more than 50 wears yet but quality seems as good as the others

Didn't really like the appearance of the fabric.
It's slightly shiny when I saw it in person.
Sandro have a few nice coast in the sale... -
• #3380
I got a high neck from Shackleton that's fantastically warm and comfortable, but that was when a half price sale brought such things within my range.
-
• #3381
I wonder how much quality difference there is between a £80 jumper from Labour and Wait and a £400 one from Shackleton. Considering how hard wearing mine has been I wonder how much better they can be?
-
• #3382
Thanks.
That first one is exactly the cut I'm after.
-
• #3383
How are they for cycling in?
-
• #3384
Though half price at the time was 1/4 the current one! Don’t like the tight looking waist but definitely like the raglan sleeves - on the labour and wait one.
-
• #3385
Is this for the Fisherman one? The tight waist is supposed to sit over your waist, like so
So it doesn't really go over your stomach. Wouldn't be too flattering on my developing middle age bump...
-
• #3386
Don't know.
I am saving them for 'office smart' and cycling in my Muxu's -
• #3387
I’ve got weird physiology going on in addition to the middle age bump, though I will give that style a go at some point.
-
• #3388
Screw it I bought some anyway. That's 15 quid for you

I recommend Yarmo for knitwear: not as cheap as they used to be but facksake ~50 notes for a 100% woollen sweater is still a good deal (“incorporates original Irish stitches” must be a technicality to allow them to outsource the work to indentured piece workers in sunken hulks and still claim it’s from mills in Eire, yes?).

Here’s the jumper Labour and wait sells I think
-
• #3391
Cheers
Is it as thick and square as it looks?
-
• #3392
jeebs that's cheap
-
• #3393
No idea. Same label as on labour and wait but wonder if it’s the same model. It’s on a mannequin so could be
-
• #3394
I reckon you’re overthinking it. Labour & Wait is like a value-added reseller: They don’t make anything - they ‘curate’ - if they had custom work from the original manufacturer you can bet they’d be screaming about it on their website : )
(also, if you’re making £££s from selling ‘timeless classics’ you don’t bother to tweak anything do you? - except at the till).
-
• #3395
Overthinking it? I'm just not sure about this particular model of jumper
Re Labour and Waits business model - totally understand what you mean. I think they add great value to what they sell, both from a curation p.o.w but also their customer service. I can prob source all my wool jumpers elsewhere for less, but Labour and Wait did the leg work for me and that's easily worth £50 on a £100 jumper

Yeah, I wasn’t having a pop; I just read it as ‘not sure if this is the same item or not’.
I’d say the fit on these doesn’t do any favours if you have a bit of flab going on. The hem is elasticated which I find a right pain in the arse (until years of washing and reshaping beat them into submission) they’re the polar opposite of a straight up-and-down Guernsey : )
-
• #3397
Doesn't take years, I've resized a few all wool sweaters by lightly soaking/washing and then drying it on a piece of MDF I've shaped to my liking.
-
• #3398
Handy to know, thanks.
(Wait. Don’t you end up with a piece of blown MDF?)
-
• #3399
Well, the item is not soaking when I pull it over the form...
Also interesting that L and W sell Blundstones instead of one of the companies that are still made in Australia. -

Still one of the best value for money boot I've bought. Is there a better option?
Did you try the Uniqlo one?
