  • I'm mounting my IQ X right side up using a longer M5 bolt, a couple of washers and a nut on the circled area.

  • For those interested, hit a problem with the P clip. You can’t bend the Edelux back enough to get the beam far enough ahead.

Will have to think about either putting a bit of metal in to move it forward, or might use an L bracket on the mounting point as per Thrusts image above.... still a bit in the way there though.

  • Could you not use a small tubular spacer on the P clip to move it in/outboard of the rack leg?

Also flip the p clip for maximum clearance.

  • Not a bad shout, but I use panniers on my pizza rack occasionally, so it’s just get in the way of them.

Could try going inboard, but wonder about tyre clearance.

Will have to have a play around!

  • easiest is to cut a IS / POST disc brake mount in half and bolt in the middle mount

  • I use either jubilee clips or zip ties on mine - gives you easy directional swivel as well.

  • That is a great idea!

  • I bent a wee bracket for mine.

  • The cut disc brake adapter works perfectly. Really good shout. Keeps the light nice and out the way too.

I do like the jubilee clip idea too, but don’t have any jubilees.

  • Tres elegant but, if the mounting bolts ever become loose and allow the light bracket to pivot downwards, isn't it going to operate rather spectacularly as a brake in a fun and surprising kind of way?

  • If you’re after a stopgap, cable ties work too (I’ve got 2x pizza rack’d Dynamo bikes...).

  • True, I like to live dangerously:)

  • Fitted my IQ-X directly using some washers and a 30mm M5.
Seems to work well. Adjustable up/down if you slack it off, otherwise it holds tight

  • Anyone know where I can buy a Garmin B&M IQ -XS Mount? Or somewhere with a file so I can get one printed?

  • thats a k edge combo, light is mounted on go pro mount, I have this for past 3+ years

  • So if I have an out front Garmin Mount I just need to buy the GoPro Mount bit to fit to the underside of it so I can them bolt my light to it? I was just going to zip tie the lamp to my handlebars but this would be neater...

    This? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F401807006538

    cheers!

  • Would you mind posting a picture?

I have a Pizza Rack and this sounds perfect.

  • Yeah for sure, will do when I get home

  • Attached.

So chopped one end off, then screwed one part to the mount, then the light screws straight into t he disc brake bit, as it’s threaded same size as the Edelux bolt.

Keeps it nice and close to the basket, and it barely pokes out. Also allows good swivel up and down, and dead straight ahead.

  • Fuck yes, thank you!

  • Thank you for your drawing. Here’s what I’ve ended up with:

    Imgur

Will test ride it and tune in pitch and yaw.

I’ve stuck gorilla tape round the light barrel to prevent major dents, not sure how successful that will turn out to be.

  • Question: What's the reasoning behind mounting it on the inside of the rack stays as opposed to outside? Won't it get sprayed with water off the front tire?

  • Also have you seen this solution by Schmidt? I used it to mount my IQ-X on the underside of the Cycletruck's platform over a year ago and it's held up without any issues - the steel band-n-pinch system means it can be put around almost any diameter tube and it has rubber on the contacting face so it wont swing around.
