  • Good to hear - I would be interested to hear how you've got on with it. I actually got a new Moon light from Father Christmas, lucky for me. But it would be cool to hear a more long-term review of that one all the same

    Cubelite II arrived yesterday.

    Pros:

    1. small, and very bright (100-300) - bright enough to annoy people in
      the office
    2. auto-feature is actually a little blinding if you pop
something on the shelf I keep it on at home
      3 attachment options
      (clip/saddle/and strap)
    3. battery indicator - this really is quite a
      simple and good idea

    Cons

    1. I'm not convinced about the under the seat clip attachment, or I might need to mount it the other way around
    2. requires removing the strap if you used this function; I suspect
those with fat fingers might break the strap/clip on attachment.

I think for £21 this is a very good and easy to use light. Versatile; if you have only one use case (i.e for a bag/or under the saddle)

  • Does anyone have a Moon Lights saddle rail bracket like this that they don't need? I snapped the one on the wife's bike recently and as she has a small frame it's the best place to mount the light. (Obviously I can buy a new one but thought I would see if there is the chance of re-using an old one first).

  • Did you consider the XLITE100?

It actually has a brake light function, which sounds great.

There's a copy/similar light on aliexpress, but for £16 in the sale it looks like a really good deal.

  • I reckon i have a few of them around never used . Pm me your address if you don't find someone local .

  • I've had a couple and all the screws rusted very quickly so can't imagine there's many going second hand! Handy mount either way.

  • Anyone actually used a diablo mk11 to compare it's features to the mk11 SYNC?

Is it just a 100lumen, paired extra Bluetooth button and the Reflex++ thing which makes it brighter when you're going faster?

  • I've been having problems with my Exposure Strada being super tight in both of my mounts for a long time - is there any trick to make it easier to remove? I don't really want to put anything oily on it, because it gets put in a bag/pocket when I leave the bike. It doesn't seem to take excessive force to attach, and it's hard to lift the button (with the light in) as well as being hard to actually get the light out when the button is lifted.

  • Cleaned it out? Sometimes they get gritty and it's hard to pull the button out. I used to put a light smear of grease on my commuter bike mount to help get the light off quicker. You could do that and throw it in a ziplock?

  • Yeah - the button is pretty free (on both) without the light in, it just seems to get stuck, and even when I get the button up, the light is really wedged into the shoe.

  • If anybody is looking for a bright front light and doesn’t want to break the bank, I’m selling a brand new 900 lumen Ravemen PR900 here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/343110/#comment15085812

  • What suggestions do people have for a rear light when you've got a saddle bag obscuring the seatpost and saddle? It's one of these so nowhere to clip a light (I did have one clipped to the straps but over the years they've sagged and it now points mainly downwards)

At the moment I've got a fibre flare and a cheapo light clipped to the seat stays but feel I should upgrade that or I'm wondering if anything clever can be done mounting to the seat stay rack mount.

  • Depends on the size of the bag, what lights you have, etc. Some of mine..

Couple of Exposure Flares that fit around TT seatposts, small bag. I've also used the light of theirs that plugs into the front light:

Whatever model Mike Hall used Cateye rear light with small bag:

Supernova rear dyno light in between seatstays

Lezyne Strip Drives mounted on seatstays:

  • Cheers, that could be a possible. Will have to work out if my bag blocks that and whether my leg would hit it.

@hippy my bag fully covers seatpost/saddle. I've currently got stuff on the seatstays but it's pointing upwards a bit. How is that one between the seatstays mounted? Looks like an interesting option.

  • Ha, that Planet X looks like it's just eager as fuck to get out and be ridden in the harshest of conditions
    : ]

  • Rubber band thing goes around the seat-tube. It's a SUpernova dyno light but I'm sure some other lights, light perhaps the Flare could bit wedged in there depending on your frame.

Also with the seatstays if you get the cheapie SMART lights their brackets can be angled so the lights point down a bit more.

  • It was certainly was. It was my TT bike then my training TT bike which meant it got used for all the audaxes I did, no matter the weather. It's now enjoying its retirement in the warmer climes of Australia. :)

  • ..a life well lived! :-)

  • I definitely got my money's worth from that bike! :D

  • Does anybody have any recommendations for a light that can charge and run at the same time? Looking in shops and online I haven’t seen anything that states this in the product description

  • Some of the lezyne ones can use their "infinite light power pack" to extend the battery, dunno if that works by just bypassing the internal ones or not though.

  • moon lights can be charged at the same time as running.

  • Annoyingly my Lezyne appears to be kaput after Monday’s rain which is what’s prompting something new.

  • Thanks. Had seen similar said in the thread a while ago but wasn’t sure if it was true of their full range or just the unit that was being discussed. Will check out what’s available from them

  • I got a moon meteor storm last month from tredz for £50 with their constant £5 off offer, cheaper than trade. I can check the charge and run thing later if you want? As a light I'm very impressed, bright enough for offroad after work gravel/mud rides on medium/high and seems to last forever on low, which is still pretty bloody bright.
