Build weekend has stopped due to me forgetting to order brake cables, and teeth of chainring slightly rubbing the CS. Hopefully I can find somewhere today that has a ‘bb spacer’ to push the drive side out 1mm for the moment. will most likely put a double up front eventually.
I have managed to get the handlebars up to the the correct height, which is lucky as the frame is actually a 20” after all. The bags do an excellent job of hiding the massive spacer stack.

You'll need a longer BB. Old school Middleburn cranks?

You'll need a longer BB
Or a smaller chainring?

Or a 1.8mm cassette spacer between the BB shell and cup. For double I’ll need a longer BB but this will get me rolling for now.
Middleburn RS2 without engraving, maybe the old atacs are a bit too chunky though.

Hmm, still need to find my green-and-yellow Salsa Pepperjack grips and switch out shifters and brake levers but I think this turned out rather good!
Also had to fix up this Basso for the missus so she wouldn't feel left out. Mixed bag of Campy mtb and road bits.

Both superb, but man, I need a Marin like that.

the marin is really good

Great job. What model Marin is that? What's the tubing? Any pics of it built up as a road bike?

The Marin 👌

That Marin is some serious aspirational material for my current flat bar road project!

Glad you liked the Marin. It's from the '91 brochure, aptly named Limited Edition. Found it in fully original and practically mint condition, ridden only a few times.
I was planning on keeping the 105SC groupset but after a donor Battaglin with 6400 fell into my lap I decided to switch it up as I fancy the looks better. I think this is the only picture of it in it's original form.
There are some more pics in my Flickr album.

What flat bar shifters were you using on it?
-
• #124970
Left one is a M751 and right one is a M590. Have a matching pair of silver M751's in the mail.

Love the marin, I got its matching MTB brother:

Speaking of, my shitty Marin is fucked I think :(
The BB won't go in straight anymore. Threads look okay though. Warped somehow perhaps? Can I just get the threads cut fresh (how much does this cost?) or is it likely to be terminal?
-
• #124973
If it's shitty just get a threadless BB
-
• #124974
Yeah, was hoping to use some spare cranks and the new BB I just bought though. Ah well, sure I'll find somewhere for them to go eventually. Thanks

Got the orange cabled up, need to make some minor adjustments to lengths. Bit of a faff when trying to get it to work/look nice both with and without bag.
Rear brake makes me feel sad when I look at it and when I pull the lever. Might chop off the stop and get a funky monkey:

To be fair I'm more bothered by the grips than the saddle, both have room for improvement
