Man made climate change denialism is the issue that has defined Australian politics for over a decade. Four prime ministers and a couple of leaders of the opposition have been removed by their own party for being on the wrong side. As with brexit it began when a minority group within one party managed to grab the balance of power. They then blocked any policy change towards reducing carbon use.
For almost 200 years the Australian economy and easy lifestyle have depended on ruthless exploitation of the natural and mineral resources the white immigrants found there. To take effective climate action requires a fundamental change to the whole culture of the country.
The arsonist myth about bushfires has been around for a long time. It is a convenient cover for those who have done nothing about climate change. The evidence suggests that about 1% of the current fire damage is due to arson. -

Last one:
Washington Post:
Britain has just voted in a prime minister with a long,
well-documented history of racist language and pushed out a
mixed-raced duchess because of racist abuse. It has become
increasingly hard for this country to hide its values. -

Gut wrenching destruction out of #PickensCounty #Alabama after a
#tornado tore through this afternoon near the city of Carrollton. This is why storm shelters are the best option. A mobile home stood
NO chance in that path. Site built homes obliterated.https://twitter.com/AlaStormTracker/status/1216104733909438464

More mature than Putin and the MH flight...we all know Russia had something to do with that, but he won't admit it.
I hope the admission will calm things down and not be used to excuse further escalation.

her that he had a framed photo of her on his piano and inviting her to
share a bottle of champagne with him.The peer, who previously worked for the TUC, was also found to have
harassed a second women after devising a sexual rhyme about her. -

Florida woman tries to make bomb in Walmart
The woman was arrested and charged with attempted arson, fire bombing, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and battery of an officer
There's a woman who was trying to deliver all her New Year resolutions in one go.
I think the Murdoch rags in Australia are some of the only major papers in the western world not featuring the fires on their front pages today.
