Apologies for the shit pic. It's from 2000ish I think. Neck is thin. It's pretty well made and sounds reasonably loud unplugged. That's about all I can tell you.

This is so rad. I've had a bit of a thing for them ever since I got into King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard.

I just got the first pictures from Rich Rendell, who laquered one of my bodies in nitro. This isn't fully buffed yet apparently but I'm already delighted with how it looks - should be back in the next couple of weeks.
It's swamp ash and has a flame maple / ebony neck to go with it that I've still got to flat sand and buff myself - pretty excited to get it together.

That looks amazing. where's he based? I want to get one of my acoustics finished in nitro. I buggered the poly laquer when i took the pickguard off and ended up sanding it back to bare wood on the top. Would love to get it properly stripped and resprayed in nitro.

In non-guitar news I got my free piano tuned. It's from the the 1930s apparently. The tuner said it was too old and fragile to get up to concert pitch so he's tuned it a semitone down. Will make playing along with GnR easier at least? devilhands

I'm on the hunt for a Tele, either Mexican or US. There's currently a MIM (2018) and Highway One (mid-2000's) both for sale near me at similar price. Are the pickups/electrics in the mim going to be much better than the ~15yo highway one?
Were hwy1 models just assembled in Mexico and finished in US? -

Based in Port Talbot - I posted the body to him a few weeks back. You'll have to speak to him about prices for a full respray, but for a body only it was a great price. I only finish guitars once every 18 months or so, and given the massive faff painting them is, I think I'll likely use him for all my future stuff.
He's on TheFretboad.co.uk here: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/profile/lamf68 . I have his WhatsApp - DM me if you'd like it.

Hmmmm. Thanks for the offer. Not sure the guitar is worth posting to Wales and back for a refin to be honest. It's only a GAD Guild M-120. Maybe though. Lemme give it some thought.

Ooh. Not sure. I wanted a HW1 when they first came out in 2002 but the first shipment was late so I got bored of waiting and bought a 2nd hand USA Tele instead.
My experience of MIMs has been minimal in recent years but I hear they are better than the early 90s ones. All the "vintage" RI stuff is MIM these days isn't it? And the player series.
I still hanker after a HW1. Have been trying to find a body to use as the basis for a partscaster but they just don't come up.

That wasn't very useful was it?

Anyone want a free bass?
Washburn XB-125 - Functional 5 string for someone that wants to dabble with the extra string before splashing the cash on a new one. Or just for someone looking for a free 1st bass. It works and stays in tune but it wouldn't feel right charging for it.
Black. Alder body. Maple neck with rosewood board. P-style pickup.
It's had a hard life - gigged heavily in the early 00's, the body is bashed, it has an old band name scratched into the back, the strap pin has been pulled out so many times its just taped on (has worked like this for many a gig), the neck has a crack down both sides from it hitting the roof at one too many venues (it has been like this for about the last decade and hasn't given way yet, though I don't know what would happen if you took the strings off), there's also a minor crack on the head stock.
Looks like the below & lives in Deptford if you want it.

Spent an educational weekend rewiring and shielding my strat copy. Need to do a proper assessment of whether I like the new tone, but it is at least working and doesn't randomly crackle or drop out when I turn the knobs or move the selector.

Yeah that's generally what I've heard. Obviously I'd try both before potentially buying, but it's a tough decision between a sub-£300 HW1 or a similar priced year-old Mexican......
Let me know if interested in it?

Also, FFS, gave myself one last chance at fixing my crackly Vox and it looks like my liberal spraying of contact cleaner finally did it in...

That's a smashing job, did he strip it also or did you send it to him as a new body? I've been looking to find someone to refinish my PRS Custom 22 but set neck refinishing is a pain in the arse so everyone either wants nothing to do with it or wants to charge an arm and a leg, if you could DM number for WhatsApp I'd appreciate it.

I hate to be that person but you should probably just play both? The massive bonus of the HW1 is the nitro finish but if you're not all that bothered about that I suspect it'll be down to feel.

PM'ed you the number.
I sent him the body which I'd previously sealed and started to prime, so it was sort of painted. He resanded and went from there.

Where are people seeing Highway Ones for under £300?

You’re a gentleman of exceptional taste! What pickups are going in?

Truly a gentleman of the highest order. I'll let you know how I get on!

Why thank you very much ;)
Not really sure - possibly some from Monty's guitars, as they're a five minute walk from my place and I've been meaning to go there to get some setups etc.
I heard good things about Suhr tele pickups as well, so possibly a set of those. Both a bit pricey though.... might see how it feels once strings are on first :)
