  • So the wooden flooring I sanded and refinished a couple of weeks ago looks great (for the most part) but isn't really behaving how I'd like it to.

It seems to be collecting dirt quite easily, and to have quite a rough-feeling finish to it - more so than when I'd finished sanding.

Is there some kind of denibbing or buffing I could do now that could improve it, or is this something I have got wrong during the process that will be hard to rectify?

I did actually buy a Ryobi buffer last weekend, because it was cheap and I thought it might be useful in between coats of finish for the next room I'm going to do.

  • How did you finish the floor? Did you just stain it or stain and seal it? If it's getting worse it sounds like it could be the boards absorbing moisture.

Buffing could help but you might want to check it first. Best if possible to go at it with a Scotchbrite pad somewhere where it won't be noticed before buffing.
