If you wanted to run a space heater while welding and testing your PA system you might need to run an extension cable. It was kind of my point that you'll probably get by without an new CU in the garage but if you need a bit more power than the garage circuit can handle you could use one from the house.
In fairness it was you who wanted moar pwr.
Depends what you are using in the garage.
