Mince Pie Appreciation

  • I have had precisely one mince pie this season.

It was a Konditor that I got free when buying lebkuchen as gifts for kids' school teachers.

A purist approach, mainly brought about by being in warm climes for the last three weeks. But, in the washup, I am having extreme FOMO.

  • From Cricks Corner in Dartmouth Park - best mincer I’ve ever had. Deep fill, booze, huge, everything you could want

  • Carbo loading for Herne Hill later?

  • I’m calling it: I think we hit peak mincing this year. So many good pies. So many good pies.

    I think I’m crying.

  • I've just had some Fortnum and Mason liquer mince pies gifted to me - £20 reduced to £6.

Very tasty - easily the best one I've eaten this year

  • Late winner: Mum outdid Bread Ahead with a Hugh F-W mince recipe and slightly over browned personal pastry... I can’t wait for December.

Sure, it’ll be juniors first birthday, but woah those mincers as yet unbaked...

  • M&S red box currently 45p in store

  • Our local Tesco has the audacity to be asking a quid!

  • Disappointing. Especially compared to MINCE PIE 9282

  • Not K&C, whatever that is. Are you in the army? Or do you live on a secret moon base?

  • Sainsbury's porridge sachets, heavily discounted. Can't even taste the nearly 25% sugar.

Also bought. Have not tried as yet. Might save for next year.....

  • Porridge sachets are the devils work. Like shrink wrapped apples and pre-mashed potato.

  • Grey Monday afternoon.
    Borough Market empty.
    Nice.
    Into Konditor.
And out with their last 24 mincers.
    Also nice.

  • Might save for next year.....

With all that sugar, is there any room left for the preservatives?

  • Iceland standard 6-deck reduced from £1 to 25p.

  • Spotted a cyclist with a packing box filled with about 10 boxes of tastes the difference mincers at the Hackney Sainsbury's yesterday - most be someone on here? I grabbed a box for myself - only 50p!

  • Late entry. Panic buying last year now paying off.....

  • Bets on when the first pie appears in the shops?
    I'm going with October.

  • Not soon enough is the correct answer

  • Hottest day of the year...

  • FFS. As with early sloes and blackberries, maybe it's global warming's fault?
