No problem :)

I wouldn't go anywhere near the big fast food chains if they did a vegan version of anything... they don't give a shit about animal welfare, and you're right, KFC probably kill more than any company in the world. I've seen some vegan youtubers saying we need to support them so other companies follow suit... I say fuck them too... support the small vegan companies

Just thought about this reading the "supporting small vegan companies" but if any of you are ever in the Crystal Palace area I'd recommend going to Made From Plants which is a great tiny vegan shop that's opened last year.
The owner runs it herself and bakes everything on site, she makes things like cake, vegan sausage rolls, pasties, pizza rolls etc ... All super tasty! I'd recommend going in the morning as she often sells out but she also has a selection of manufactured vegan products available to buy.

If I'm ever in the area, I'll check it out!!!!

Second recommendation for Made with Plants. Always pop in and get a cake when I'm in the area. Anyone been to The Odds in Peckham yet?

Yes, great little spot! The food is awesome (bit different from your usual brunch) but it's quite small so I think it gets popular it will often be hard to get a seat but I think you may be able to book. Staff is super friendly too! We had the sausage toastie and some rice based dish when we want

The cinnamon buns from made with plants are amazing 💖
I really like the odds, they're super friendly, and the pancakes are awesome. Also love the marmite cheese croissant!

Weird request, does anyone have any recommendations for Coventry? Ideally near the ice rink if possible...

I do generally agree with you but I do think there's an argument for people buying vegan food from big, horrible, objectively unethical companies. They're never going to go out of business because a small quantity of people are giving their money to exclusively vegan or otherwise ethical companies.
I can't see how KFC selling less chicken and more vegan stuff can be a bad thing and if it makes veganism more accessible and widely available can be anything but positive from an animal rights point of view (which is by far my main motivation for being vegan).
To be clear, I'm unlikely to try it myself and would much rather people supported small vegan businesses but functioning within the horrible system we have in place, if it helps reduce the over all consumption of animal products I'm not going to argue with it. Genuinely interested to hear any counterpoints! -

Yeah.
I just saw McDonald's advertising in Berlin for a vegan Royal TS burger, and thought to myself "hmm, nice - they're really doing a vegan version of one of their classics now".
For me this would still not be an attractive option when I find myself hungry when strolling through the city, I don't like McDonald's and frankly there are better options available - but there are a lot of people eating there (the one closest to me is actually on the other side of the street from a very big public school, so go figure) - and them offering a vegan TS just means a lot less meat will be consumed, plus people will make the experience that having a non-meat burger is actually ok.
Like big fastfood chains or not, them offering vegan options is helping to spread veganism on a massive scale.

On fast-ish food, really enjoy the vegan options at brewdog and they are half price for Jan.

I understand that it might be a gateway for people that want to try vegan food and usually eat at places like McDonalds and KFC... it's just not for me, I'm nearly 45 for fuck sake, I'm a grown-arsed man!!!! ;)

Tracked down the vegan steak bake.
Pastry is crisp and flakey. The gravy is good but I have to agree that its more 'mince' than 'steak'.
6/10

Has anyone had the non vegan version? Would be interested to know how it compares.

True story!

I have but would be over 4 years ago. When I’m back at work I could get one of the lads to do a comparison for us. It won’t be fair though as those pricks will use any excuse to give me grief for what I chose to eat :/
There’s prob many more unbiased juries out there. They eat tons of them anyway so prob unlikely a blind test would be fair either...

I can try to get my hands on one over the weekend to provide a taste comparison if it is needed

The Jordi Casamitjana case has ruled and Veganism is now a protected belief.

sausage roll front, Wentzels
Tried the Wenzels vegan sausage roll today as a mid-morning snack from the store along Ruislip High Street.
£1.99 vs £1 for the Greggs,
but much larger, with a greater diameter tube of filling,
that has a better texture than the Quorn in the Greggs version.
I agree Wenzels >> Greggs. -

Went to veganyes, it was very nice. We had healthy potato, mushroom gnocchi and kimchi lasagna, don’t regret any.
Do you think it tastes grim, or is it the fact that it's some weird fungus stuff that's turning you off?
