Let's offroad / mountain bike / mtb / ride dirt

Haven’t been to Afan for a year or so, all the trails there are rideable in a hardtail so nothing should be beyond you’re ability.
I’d recommend parking at the Glyncorrwg centre and riding Whites Level and Skyline

Not staying over, just driving across for the day tomorrow. Got a good number of weekends free in the new year if it's any good?

If you're going to ride Afan I'd suggest Blade if you have a full sus. The final two descents are long, fast, but rough as dogs. Loads of big boulders, loose rocks, gravel and ruts. Riding the final two descents on a hardtail would be very hard work.
On a hardtail then maybe White's Level.

The blade final section is a blast. I always enjoyed the final section of the wall too. Have fun.

Giant trance has always been a good platform. Price depends on age and condition really and I can't see an age on it.

It’s fairly old as it’s a 26”, the modern ones have more linkage.

Looks a bit crap, if you've only got that much to spend, I'd stick to a hardtail and look for something with a better fork. Or spend a bit more and get a bossnut from go outdoors.
