  • I'm thinking about buying a 1975 mkII speedmaster. Up for 1600. Serviced with box but no papers. Does this seem about right ? I don't spose anyone has one and if so does it wear big ? (It's 41mm)

  • Ive got one of those . It is a bit taller than a moonwatch but not too obtrusive. I’ve only got really small wrists and it’s fine as a daily.
£1600 sounds good if as described.
    Who serviced it ?

  • Hey ejay. Well I say serviced the ad says the movement has been recalibrated so I am assuming that is a service but have emailed to get confirmation. it has a 2 year guarantee so that should be ok.

Slightly concerned about wearing a watch that is nearly 50 years old but presumably they are well built soild old things.

  • It's been tested on the moon. All moon watches are tested there.

  • Common misconception.
Actually Omega bring the moon to the Earth every few years to get the latest harvest of Moonwatches.
    (Also Liars Wednesday >>>>)

  • I wear mine regularly, and I have worn omega from the 60’s and 70’s as daily wearers for years , as long as you are being sensible .
The very fact that once serviced ( by omega or one of their workshops ) you get a two warranty that is better than the one it came with when new says something.
Don’t get it too wet though....
I would fit and forget .

  • Or buy a Bulova moon watch for £250 and wear it all the time regardless.

  • Yes! Sorry... You are right. My info is out of date.

  • The moon landings were faked fam

  • Saying that I saw a great speed master pro with an aventurine dial and moonphase. Can’t find one for sale anywhere though

  • Hard not to keep looking at it. Festive regards to ejay.

  • Same to you.
You’ve had that over a year now, looking good my friend.

  • Just bought this in today , going off for service and then will be for sale if anybody can’t/won’t be bothered to wait for a new one .

  • Ref 16610

    Good looking sub.

  • Thanks I prefer that ref to the new one .

  • I prefer the bezel to the new one but the case and bracelet of the latest one are nicer.

    Also date window >>>>>>>>>>

  • The cut on the new one is better... Current model seems more solid. reason I haven't gone for that gen.

BUT its still an amazing watch.

    Someone buy it!

  • I think the current generation is just too “square” shaped and lacks the delicacy of the 16610 and the ceramic bezel makes it look fat.

  • I keep seeing/hearing about Rolex AD's holding onto the warranty cards. Can anyone tell me what is the reason behind it? Why would they do that? Please forgive me if the answer is obvious - I couldn't find it.

  • Cause they're dodgy.

They don't want ppl to sell on the watches is their reason.

    @ejay2.0

  • Thank you. If this is the only reason, seems like way too much hassle for me. Apparently, Rolex has nothing to do with it either, which makes it more confusing to me.

  • They have no legal right to keep the warranty card. You bought the watch, it belongs to you. Challenge it if they try.

  • They know that they can move that watch if wanted to someone who will agree to those terms if you don't.

    You know that.

  • They also know it’s legally a very grey area. If they’ve taken your money it belongs to you. Have some self respect, man.
