  • Hibernating uses zero power, as RAM is saved to disc, and needs a press on the power switch to wake it up and copy disc back to RAM. I think it's disabled by default these days.

    Sleep uses very little power, just enough to preserve RAM and check for USB events etc.

    Hybrid sleep (which I think you have to enable) copies RAM to disc as well in case of power loss e.g. running out of battery while asleep.
