Mince Pie Appreciation

Also makes great bread pudding.

This. Just when you thought you were sick of the panettone, it manages to make an amazing comeback as bread and butter pudding!

Just boffed two mincers from sainsburys. TTD heated in the oven, with brandy butter. Got the feels and the vibes.

I took a box of mince pies into the office last Monday, from each of the following stores:
Harrods
Fortnum & Mason
M&S
Sainsburys
Waitrose x 2
Konditor
There are six people in my office - one of whom is on leave.
Since Monday, I have had 2 mince pies - as a heretic, I'm not that big on sweet food, as it has the capacity to make my teeth vibrate.
This morning, there were a total three mince pies left (Sainos ones - for those who are interested.)
WTF are the remaining four people on???

What’s the general consensus on the best of the mincers this year?

For me, Ottolenghi have made the best traditional mincer. Bread Ahead the best variant.

In terms of supermarket, I've really enjoyed Asda. Highly rated M&S fancy ones but pastry was a touch crumbly.

M&S red is good.

Konditor have vegan mince pies, no one told me. Went in to buy the normal ones for family and came out with a box for me.

My vote is Bread Ahead. I’ve considered abandoning my wife and infant for one last one...

We've just had a mincer disaster. We were saving our last Bread Ahead pies for a cup of tea this evening, before calling our Mince Pie season to a close for this year. There's other stuff to be eating closer to Christmas right?

Anyway, I accidentally left the mince pies next to a bag of Polish smoked fish and now the mincers are fishy and smokey.
