All the Rolex noise has actually helped put me right off the watches themselves - in the space of a year I've gone from actively looking to pick one up to not wanting to ever own one as i'd be too self-conscious about it. I know objectively Rolex make great watches and that there are nice people who own Rolex etc but to me the hysteria seems to be having the effect of attracting a type of person (or income bracket) and attention that I don't really want to be associated with. I'm sure Rolex are quaking in their boots about my loss of custom. I can only hope they're able to soldier on without me.
