  • that looks amazing. want.

  • Best bit is it only weighs 1.5kg. Keep a cheap bicycle rain cover inside to protect anything larger that needs shifting.

Now need to swap the inner tube ‘tressage’ for the official webbing to take advantage of (probably) the best £/gram saving ratio in cycling which should lighten the front end up around 2.5kg

  • inner tube ‘tressage’

I've never understood why people use those over normal webbing straps in the same pattern.

  • Is that designed just to immediately bottom-out the suspension?!

  • it doesnt cost anything if you use old tubes?
that was my excuse anyway, but if I can save 2.5kg then I think I'm about to get one

  • Depends how many tubes you used...

Not including the ones I use for strapping things down, I currently have 7 which I estimate at 500g each (perhaps more ‘cause £1 shop). Official webbing weighs 1kg.

  • In my case it was because I did not budget the build at all and forgot how much all the small parts like brake adapters, brake hose, tyres (yeah, forgot about those too!) total, so by the time I had a functioning bicycle my bank account was quite empty.

  • Inner tubes are far better suspension for the stuff you're carrying, I'd take the weight penalty

  • And find some lightweight punctured ones to take from your local bike shop if you care

  • Only if you’re carrying something with a max. footprint of around 40 x 50cm, otherwise it’s resting on the rack or fork top cap and not being suspended anyway.

  • Agree on the sides of rack, don't think the top cap really causes that problem. Most sensitive thing I tend to carry is a max 12 bottles of wine or a corporate food order which the inner tube suspension really seems to help. Less worried about 4 boxes of legal filing.

  • Spotted outside our shop today

  • I might have got overly excited about how shit pound shop tubes are trying to shed weight from my 20kg bicycle...

205 grams each, I removed the redundant one from the extension so weight penalty over webbing is 230 grams. notworth

  • Can this forum already be renamed 'London Bromptons and Cargo Bikes'?

  • Wait, maybe not 'London'.

  • Britain's Bromptons & Cargo Cycles

  • Referencing a much-loved lost legend...

    Cargo Bikes of Great Britain
    and
    Other Multi-Functional Utilitarian Gear

  • But I ride a bmx more often than not?

  • That's utilitarian.

  • Nah, it's a GT

  • That’s Grand Terrainian.
