Further up the thread I saw @spotter posting his 15 quid Casio on a textile strap for camping use.
I kind of want to copy the idea. A cheap watch on one of those fake elastic straps that I can wear when doing DIY, working out, servicing my bike etc.So far the best I've found is this Casio World for 26 quid. Inside my head I am trying to work out a messy venn diagram with circles for cheap, can be put on a strap (i.e. not G Shock), durable, ideally solar powered, not too bulky etc etc. Would welcome other suggestions.

I'm looking for a pocket watch stand (in time for Christmas). Something silver like this I guess but I'm open to suggestions. Any ideas on where to look, what to look for?

That has quite a narrow lug width so will look a bit weird on a non-OEM strap (IMO)

G Shock can be put on an alternative strap but you need to buy some adapters.

pfft.

Good point. Yeah, I bought a couple of the £6 'Erika' straps that everyone else bought. So I would struggle to fit a cheap Casio onto that?
I've seen the youtube tutorials for how to adapt a G shock to a textile strap, but those adapters look a bit clunky. Not very keen.

You'll run into the problem I faced, in that most casio like that have pretty narrow lugs with comparatively big shoulders, the built in straps are designed to compensate for this hence the G-Shock adaptors. If you don't you get a weird tiny strap on a chonky body
Also another issue is that many of the bodies aren't designed for thicker fabric straps, so you may have to chop a big of the plastic off the body to get it through, which i've done before putting a NATO on a MQ-24-7BLL.
All of this is what drew me to the W-59B as it comes with a fabric strap from stock so its easy enough to replace.

If you're set on a G-Shock, the DW 5600BBN 1ER comes on a cordura strap, and you can also use your own NATO strap with it, but they're a bit more expensive - £55 is the cheapest I've seen them.

Just picked this up.. it's a 1991 tag Heuer 1000 professional.. 980.013b.. seems great although slightly smaller than my other watches (38mm).. now just to clear some others out to pay for it.. anyone after a nice Tudor black bay replica and a Steinhart Ocean One..

Love this. I really need a 90s tag in my life. Specifically a 2000 with this strap and dial combo.

Had the same model (although later 90s) from new, wore the absolute shit out of it as young(er) and foolish.
Great watch, still love it even with its faded bezel
