  • Preeetty sure these guys aren't around any more? Brown's do the coffee at Brockley Market on Saturday's now and have done for a while.

  • Nude Espresso used to with 500g, not sure if they still do?

  • I was spoiled for choice with 3 of them within 10 mins walk of my office with my last job. Damn sad to see them gone

  • Costco are selling the 2019 Gaggia Classic for £299 at the moment, seems to be about 100 quid cheap than everywhere else.

  • 58.4mm tamper arrived, it works great and such a beautiful object... No more wiggly tamping! Gonna have to sell the 58mm now... Makes me a bit sad, had it a long time...

  • Has anyone had hands on experience of the new Gaggia Classic, the new ‘2019’ model?

Was planning on buying the whole setup with the matching Gaggia MDF grinder, but as costco have the 2019 machines for £299 I’m wondering if I’m better off buying the machine and then looking at a 2nd hand grinder of a better quality?

    Any thoughts?

  • Enter your text here...Colemans on Lower Marsh near Waterloo give a free coffee when you buy their beans, always tasty

  • Anywhere have any 'bulk' deals on at the mo? Looking for about 3 or 4kg of beans over the next few weeks.

  • Missus bought a 1kg bag of something from Waitrose yesterday. Think it was £18

    EDIT: https://www.ocado.com/products/roastworks-espresso-whole-bean-coffee-466924011

Never tried them but wanted something bulk and cheap for the inlaws.

  • Thanks, our local stocks that stuff as their standard along with guest stuff. Might mix and match.

  • Has anyone had hands on experience of the new Gaggia Classic, the new ‘2019’ model?

Isn't it 'supposed' to be as good as the pre-phillips version? i.e. has all the useful stuff like adjustable OPV and solenoid.

  • Host Café in EC4

Oh man miss that place, I used it everyday when I worked on Cannon St

I'm getting severe GERD from coffee, thinking I have to cut down some. Are there any semi decent decaff options for ground?

  • I can do wholesale price for that, £15/kg espresso blend + postage

  • Indeed. The online reviews seem favourable, some even saying it’s the best one yet. Comes with a professional steam want now I think instead of the one that everyone used to immediately bin off and upgrade. I’m by no means an expert, only know what I’ve read online hence wondering if anyone who’s ‘in the know’ has had a play with one and can see any obvious drawbacks with it.

Same with the MDF grinder, generally good reviews but some people online suggesting you can get a lot more out of the classic with a better grinder, seems you can get a 2nd hand super jolly grinder for roughly what a new MDF costs.

  • Someone posted a link to a place selling them for £290 or thereabouts if that helps. Let me try to find it...

    ugh yeah here go

Might not be the 'good' one though as the MY seems to be 2018.

  • Is filtering your espresso blend the stupidest idea I've had today?

  • Decaf won't help that much, I'm down to one, occasionally two, double shots of decaf a day... Sorry to hear that, reflux has ruined my life in the past year... Hope you find some relief...

  • Is decaff still acidic I take it? Man, it absolutely sucks, I'm constantly trying to clear my throat...

Did they give you any meds? Omeprazole works but then I find it doesn't on occasion

  • Nah it’s alright in a filter, it’s rich and strong, low acidity. DM your email and I’ll send you the full ws list with all the single origins.

  • On boxes 5 & 6 of the El Mirador. Still amazing.

When do I need to start panic buying? How much longer will that last?

  • Mirador is gone but La Piragua which replaces it is another microlot from the same co-op and just as lovely.

  • Model number ‘ RI9480/18’ is correct and is the new 2019 model with the upgrades, so assuming they’ve got that right that is a very good deal. Shame you have to pay £15 to become a member in order to buy it - but still a very good deal! Might well order it.

  • Mirador is gone

    NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo!

but La Piragua which replaces it is another microlot from the same co-op and just as lovely.

    Oh. OK then.

  • Steve, what are your opening hours for the New Year? I'm going away on the 4th and wanted to take some coffee with me for the trip and didn't want to order too early to maintain freshness if poss....

  • Are you based in or near West London?
I've been a Costco member forever.
Watford or Hayes are my local-ish branches.
