Maybe, but it was pretty self evident. If we just take the chainsaw and petrol, I watched guys fell a decent sized Açaí tree with a machete, and the majority of forest clearing for rotational crop growing used fire. A chainsaw meant they didn't waste larger trees. But it was clearly far from a necessity.
