It'll burn off (the overflow will route it into the throttle) eventually, but it's not an ideal situation. Depends on how full you've got it - overflowing from the oil filler in the cam cover?

Can also trash the catalytic converter

its just a little bit over the max I think - not an extra litre or anything.
-
• #51580
In which case you’ll probably get away with it

lovely! thanks

Should I expect to hear a difference between the same track played direct from a CD, and streamed over Bluetooth from Spotify on my phone?
-
• #51583
Massively so. Spotify streamed over a bluetooth dongle in the AUX-in sounded like a detuned radio in a tin can. I only ever listen to CDs now.
-
• #51584
I know i'm supposed to be able to hear the difference but I can't.
-
• #51585
If I convert the CD to an MP3 on a USB stick in a lossless format then I get the detail back?
-
• #51586
The guitar in 'fight for your right to party" simply wasn't there toward the end of the track, which it is on the CD version.

I would say removing Bluetooth from the equation would help:
‘Given the limited bandwidth of Bluetooth, it is impossible to transmit audio without some lossy data compression.’

What is your Spotify setting for music quality? Worth checking whether it’s on ‘very high’ and if not, whether that makes it better.

Front discs and pads, rear brake lines, handbrake adjustment (so far). Hooray for older cars.

It was on Automatic, which I suspect is a synonym for "crap".

Golf mk5/6 with the 1.9 PD tdi if you want reliable and economical but very tractor like. Really not a fan of any of the CR engines, esp with any sort of mileage on them, yeah they are quieter and more responsive, but do barely any better than the petrols on fuel and when things go wrong its a fair amount of money (£300 per injector etc which fail like clockwork, dont get cheap ones).
Civic of that facelift spaceship shape are very good, diesels are reliable apart from they are known to have bad clutchs, 2008 to 2011 shape I think is the best variant? -

Is it possible that a ULEZ check is giving an incorrect result? I'm currently looking at a car which is showing as ULEZ compliant but it's a 2007 diesel which I would have thought would definitely not pass...
Would be a serious pain to buy the car and drive it into central only to be hit with a fine a few days later.
-
• #51593
Did you check the reg on the ULEZ site?
-
• #51594
Yep
-
• #51595
Should be fine, but maybe contact to double check if you're concerned.
My understanding is that if it passes whatever EURO[X] they use it should be fine. There are plenty of cars out there from as early as 2002 that are compliant.
edit:
Cars: Any diesel not conforming to Euro 6 emission standards and any petrol not conforming to Euro 4 emission standards.

Thanks very much

• #51597
what car?
-
• #51598
This says Euro 6 for diesel: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/cars
And Euro 6 is from September 2015 onwards, wasn't available before then. I'd be very cautious - I can't see how a 2007 diesel car could pass.

Thanks. Lots of Vauxhall Astras out there too with relatively low mileage and look like low running costs. Not the most exciting but are they to avoid? Seem to have good reviews as second hand cars (2005-10 era)

There was me thinking I couldn’t want it any more, and he reveals the original owner was David Gilmour.
