  • He doesn’t think he has the box and papers- what impact does that have?

  • Any of you sleuths know a source for RAF/US style nato straps with not one but two nylon keepers? Watchgecko have stopped them (save for a Bond) and I am bereft.

  • Honestly not sure - maybe 500-1000 less depending how clean it looks otherwise? Depends how much it matters to the buyer, really.

  • So 9k would be fair?

  • If you take 4k originally. Wear it and you end up with 4 or safe it to double it to 8k.... What do YOU do? Wear it? Screw the extra 4?

I think I'd put it in a safe, and wear a fake knowing its in the safe.

  • Or homage.

  • Think it’s a sandwich for the main indices and painted numerals

  • This is because you are a man of exquisite taste

  • Not sure you can go wrong with either of those. Wonderful watch and movement. Size calls invariably have to come down to personal preference - decide whichever feels the most natural, then get the 42mm ;)

  • Are they going for Kickstarter again?

  • Wouldn’t really want to say without inspecting it. Given what you’ve said I think 8500 would likely be fair at the moment, but I could see it selling for 9.

  • I guess the question is what would a shop offer him, vs what would he expect in a private sale.

He's had it for 3.5-4 years, has 13 watches and never wears it, but doesn't have to sell it so would need an offer that reflects the going rate.

  • It's your watch...

Or he's offered you it so now you want to turn a profit by finding out what ppl will pay.

Low ball him, ask for £12k.

  • I think there will be a serious readjusment of the Rolex market at some point.

  • Very probably. I'm not really worried about that, if I pay a fair price now - I'll likely keep it so long that these things will even out.

  • Oddly drawn to this DigiTuna.

  • I've been asked a couple of times if my Steinhart is a real or fake Rolex.

  • I’m talking about private sale, a shop would be offering him much less.

There are a couple of similar looking 16700s on Watchfinder for £9450 so I’m probably in the right ballpark saying £8500 for a private sale. Give or take a monkey either way.

  • How long does it take to double?

  • Not long... The new one dbld instantly. The one he's looking at was probably only 3-4k new.... But 8k now.

  • The difference between a totally NOS vintage Rolex and one that’s been worn isn’t double though, it’s maybe 20% at most.

PP is probably a different matter...

  • Completely agree. I was in Burlington arcade today. Bargains to be had!

  • Interesting today on the topic of GMT Rolexs their must if been at least 100 in the window of one of the shops in the arcade. Seems to be a vast supply at the moment.

  • Solid. Bonus points for a well framed, in focus picture.

  • I would not be surprised if all of the fucking things were bought by dealers to put in the safe to sell to us cunts.
