HSBC offers £30,000 at 3.3, or £50,000 at 6.7.
Riddle me this, what's to stop someone from taking two 30k loans?
-
• #51079
Lol, I'm sure they'd catch you when it comes to the credit check. They always do.
-
• #51080
I'd not try to hide it. The repayment for 2x30 is lower than 1x50, so it's actually more affordable.

These were another steyr puch 4x4 system, so really good off road.

Because the banks would make more money off you at 6.7%.
EDIT: Banking logic meant I couldn't get a 15k loan but could get a 25k loan at a lower apr?

This GT3 is beautiful. Yellow is the perfect colour for it. If I had the ability and desire, I would go for it. Money comes and goes, experiences stay with you. And I'd wager owning and driving one of these would be an experience.

Yellow is definitely a good/the best colour. lol at how your reality has distorted to a point where you think a £60k car is moderately expensive though.
I'm not sure the two loans idea would be a good plan. If you apply for multiple credit at once lenders tend to think you're panic borrowing, so even with an excellent credit rating you could find that the first application is approved with the second one turned down, leaving you with half a Porsche.

Why not just put it on the mortgage if you really want to do it?
You can balance term / overpay to make it work it terms of overall cost and time?
-
• #51088
Are you an AA member? I was offered 3% on £9k - you might get better on more.

The flat is in both my girlfriends name and my own, doesn't seem fair to put debt for my car onto that.

A new one is £160,000

What do you like more from stuff?
Looking at your bike builds and car stuff it looks like you like a project with the desired output at the end being something tinkered with so it's "yours".
You've already got a prosche, would having a yellow one be betterer/different enough? If it's just track time you'd drive it at, and you like a project, is there something else you could aim at?
Something bonkers like putting a jet engine in a mini? -
• #51092
You have nailed the key point here, I can't help tinkering with things - it's a large part of the enjoyment, and to tinker with the GT3 would be to reduce it's value. There's only (IIRC) 119 of those gen 1's that were made as C16/UK cars.

Surely with this level of disposable income flying lessons are next on the list? Could help with work too?
-
• #51094
I'm 43, with no kids and a tiny mortgage - my situation is unusual, but does result in the slightly higher disposable than usual.

having a car in your garage that you absolutely couldn't fiddle with sounds like some kind of personal hell!
I think you should get another project, cheaper, and use the spare cash for a bigger garage/workshop space. -
• #51096
the porsche doesn't seem to fill any gap in your life though, you already have a porsche that you could end up disliking because, well, yellow is better than silver.
why not get an old 4x4 or a pick up to do up, and cart round your mountain bikes?

Buy a racing car and a trailer. Go racing.

Sounds mad to me. If you had the cash burning a hole in your pocket that's one thing but borrowing money to do it seems insane.
There are a couple of stories I'd tell you as examples if we knew each other well! :)

p.s. You are supposed to be passing your m/bike test.

I don't know Dammits situation, but even if I had the cash in my pocket, and I was sure the value of a particular car (like a gen 1 gt3) would exceed the cost of finance, I'd probably still finance it.
It's unlikely the arse will fall out of the market for rare cars like that.
ha, nice one dude. scruples
oh and @Dammit with that yellow porsche. Ignore me as the only ones I like are 914/916 anyway, but as a dream, celebration of something pretty special that seems lacking. why not get something completely different to your current one?
Oh. And yellow has to be a no
