I'll have it aged in oak vats on the equator before it's sprinkled over the Swinley Green Trail, ready for me to unleash the Gnarpoon.

Ok, email back from Pace - the shock upgrade is literally just that, the explanation being that re-valving the Fox to the same spec as the Rockshox is expensive. I don't think it represents value, so would stick to the stock Debonair.

• #2183
So the Pace requires a custom tuned shock?
-
• #2184
I think most companies pick a specific tune for their shocks, maybe Pace is a little more complex here? I don't really know.
-
• #2185
I think the Fox offers custom valving on top of the standard OTP tunes. So it’s possible that a a chunk of the additional cost is getting the Fox just right whereas the RS will be a combination of the OTP tunes.

simply because I found the hubs a PITA on the Hightower
What was so awkward about these btw? I presume the fork/hub used their torque caps?

The Rockshox is expecting axles that are 31mm in diameter, the Thule roofrack has an axle that is 21mm, it means that you lift the car onto the roof then dick around for what feels like hours to get the fucking skewer aligned and in.
Whereas with the Fox 34's you simply plonk it on the rack, then slide the skewer in and tighten it.

Get a van 😎

I thought mixing Shimano and Sram was bad enough, but Fox and Rockshox...

It does have one advantage - Fox skewers go in from the left, Rockshox the right, so you can put both bikes on opposing sides of the roof.

Oh, well
Now it all makes perfect sense

You were insured though right?
-
• #2197
Yep, insurance took care of all of it. I am a fan of good insurance.

Apart from that, no real reason
Just got round to ordering after a day at Bedgebury today- rear tyre is definitely out of its element now.
Another thing that today showed - I need some clear glasses. Any recommendations?

Oakley EVZero Photochromic. They're really good. Clear when they need to be, quick to react, don't fog and so light you forget you have them on.

Cheers. Also, my brand new dropper seems to be a bit reluctant to come up - what's the first thing to check on these things?
Despite the crabonz this bike is gonna be a heavy boi
