    Sadly, as others up-thread have said, the "appreciating in value" bit is impossible to predict and unlikely unless you're super lucky or into silly money Pateks etc (and are somehow able to get them at RRP). Buying secondhand would keep losses lower, but obviously comes with a bit more risk.

    I'm just annoyed with Rolex for their market control strategy (as effective as it clearly is in stoking demand), and if I bought a Tudor it'd remind me that I wanted, but could not buy, a Rolex every time I looked at it.
