• Unfortunately as I say I didn't think to exchange any information when I was at the window of the taxi speaking to the driver and when I got my head back in to order a couple of seconds after walking away back down the road and peds asking if I was ok I turned around and they had driven away

  • Just received notice that the cops have sent a notice of intended prosecution to the Mercedes driving bellend who close passed me with inches to spare the other night. Enormously satisfying.

  • As far as I'm aware that's simply to establish the driver's identity. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll prosecute.

  • Bof. Cunty McCantdrive is going to get a letter from the cops and that’s going to shit them up much more than me futilely shouting after them as they whistle cuntily off into the night.

  • Pulled up at the lights behind 2 or 3 other cars and waited. A mouth breather pulled in behind me and was clearly unhappy with my primary position, honking and shouting to get out the road. We're still not moving at red light. I turned to ask what was up and he drove car into the back of my bike. Not much impact but enough to buckle my mudguard up. Got my phone out and snapped some pics then moved to side of road to fix mudguard so wheel would turn again. Knobface drove off, no surprise. Very disappointed by other drivers, who must've witnessed, swearing at me as they drove off. Team car delayed by self righteous cyclist I guess.
Reported it police, forwarded photos and they've got back saying the will review CCTV next week. It's a big city centre junction with cameras, so maybe it'll be on there. I have low expectations of what'll happen but needed reporting.
All so unnecessary, and leaves me further disappointed in humans.

  • I’ve now submitted 4 videos to the Met, 3 of which have resulted in the sending out of NIPs. My 75% hit rate is respectable, although slightly concerning that at this rate I am going to get hit.

  • Claim on his insurance for the damage. That'll shit him up more than anything else.

  • Very nearly had a "Rider Down" thread dedicated to myself this morning.

Approaching roundabout entering Greenwich Park and nothing coming from my right so my right of way, pick up truck coming from left but he has to stop right....right?!?! Grab a handful of brakes as he shows no sign of slowing down and he misses my front wheel by inches, my shout obviously startled him into life as he then decides to brake (after passing me) to skid to a stop 5 metres or so past me.

Now I am a confident rider and I rarely think of cycling as a dangerous way to commute but this really made me think if I'd have reacted 1 second later there's a very real chance I would have been, well, killed.

After the adrenaline has worn off slightly I'm so angry that whatever reason he decided not to stop (not paying attention or deciding he wasn't going to stop for a bloody cyclist) he could have wrecked the lives of my wife/children!

Not even sure what the point of this post is (and I know everyone obviously does their best not to be killed just going to work) but be careful out there folks.

  • pick up truck

All pick up trucks seem to be driven by total wankers. Twin cabs especially.

  • 388 bus driving at a high speed and with no intention to stop at the crossing in the Olympic park the other day. I was half way over the crossing and he was very clearly going to continue to drive over the crossing unless I had gone out further into the road to stop him.

Reported it to the bus operator- no response so far (reported it Monday)

Reported it to the police - the last screen then said thanks for your feedback ?

Not sure what will happen now. The bus driver was driving like a complete and utter bellend and I am very cross about it.

  • Reported it to the bus operator- no response so far (reported it Monday)

I believe you are supposed to report it to TfL as they are supposed to handle such matters.

  • ok I've reported it to TFL now too.

I am sick to death of people not stopping (for either bikes or people) on that crossing. The speed of cars on that road is also closer to 40 than 20 imo.

as an asides, i have a dash cam in my car and some scroat went through a red light the other day (it wasnt poor judgement or bad luck the light had been red for 5 odd seconds and he didnt want to wait).

so I uploaded the footage to the police and did a witness statement of what I saw and they replied and said theyve sent him a ticket, so that was nice.

  • Guy at the lights on Tuesday morning at about 0830, chucked something out his window, I thought what a prick then realised it was a fucking NOS canister as he drove off, balloon in mouth, absolute fucking cunt.

  • He should have offered you some?

  • Well I've still not even had so much of an acknowledgement from the company that runs the 388 (or tfl) and the minimum time limit for disposal of the CCTV is rapidly approaching.

So whilst he might think I'm a lunatic, I've added the CEO of the bus company on linkedin (and he very quickly accepted my request) which enabled me to send him a polite message about how his company can't even be bothered to acknowledge an email from someone who tells them one of their buses was being driven by a lunatic.

It'll be interesting to see if he replies!

  • Try sending them a subject access request (assuming that you were in a position where you'd have been caught on the CCTV cameras on the bus). That should hopefully give you another avenue to make them keep the CCTV.

  • Is it worth 'roadsafing' someone for driving then parking in the cycle lane? been using a came for a month and this is the first thing of interest.

  • I think you should celebrate riding for a month without an incident. I celebrate a day.

  • Sent this to Carousel Buses this morning...

    Dear Sir/Madam
I wish to make a complaint about an extremely disturbing incident that occurred last night with one of your drivers in High Wycombe.
The incident occurred at about 18.30 Monday 25 November 2019, the bus in question had route number 103 and had the number 712 on the side.
I was cycling from High Wycombe railway station towards the town centre along Castle St. I filtered up the inside of the stationary bus, in a legal and safe manner. When I got to the front of the bus, it became clear it was stationary as the car in front had stopped to let another car out of a side road. The bus driver was aggressively and repeatedly using his horn, and then started to edge the bus forwards towards my rear wheel. I turned watch what was happening and the driver was extremely agitated, gesturing and shouting at me from the cab.
At this point the traffic cleared and I cycled off staying well clear of the bus. However, when waiting at the red traffic light on Oxford Road between Sainsburys and the bus station, the same bus pulled alongside and the driver opened his window and told me "You're going to end up in a wooden box". As I don't appreciate receiving death threats from a driver of a large and potentially lethal vehicle, I followed him into the bus station to discuss further. However he refused to talk to me other than more shouting, screaming and again asking if I "wanted to die". At all times I was calm, did not raise my voice and made it clear I just wanted to discuss the matter and understand his problems. After a couple of minutes, the driver reversed the bus and drove off.
I would like to register a strong complaint about this erratic, aggressive and intimidating behaviour. In particular, giving death threats to vulnerable road users such as cyclists is highly worrying behaviour. This driver appeared out of control of his actions and emotions.
Many thanks for your assistance in this matter
    Yours sincerely etc

  • I hope you get a reply. I haven't heard a peep out of my naughty bus company nor has the CEO replied to my message on linkedin.

  • Im sick of Nat Express buses using the Olympic “Park” as a rat run. I’ve emailed and written to the park twice about it now and they won’t ban traffic.
At the very least change the phasing of them lights to give peds and cyclists more time to cross the road.
Why promote the Olympic Park as somewhere to get active then have a road running right through the middle?

  • The phasing of the lights is definitely a problem. At the crossing by here east all the drivers do is see the green light up ahead, put their footdown, think fuck the crossing and it's only really by luck rather than anything else that there hadn't been an accident there before now.

  • I filtered up the inside of the stationary bus

Err not to justify the bus driver's behaviour but insides of buses on a bike is a nope from me

  • When traffic is moving, I avoid that too, when it isn't, it's entirely context-dependent.
