  • I just about finished carving the neck on my LP.

    It's got skarv joint at the headstock - basically means the neck is made of two pieces of wood rather than one, as per a Gibson. This will make it much stronger, so it's unlikely to suffer the classic Les Paul headstock break.

    Even so, I wanted a volute (the thicker, decorative part between the headstock and neck) anyway to reinforce it further, and because I like the way they look. Carving this took quite a lot longer than I expected..

    Also - that Shadow is cool, a superstrat is high on my list for my next build (in about three years at current rate of progress...)
