Happy to be corrected. And the outcome seems even weirder because of it.

As @NurseHolliday says the court case is unrelated to the damages. I think as soon as she makes a claim on her house insurance they will then claim from the vehicle insurance. I think she has either had no advice or bad advice.

Well, it's a motor vehicle and it crashed into a building:

International edition. No serious injuries.
But driver insists there was a mechanical malfunction, which is worrying if true as there are a shitload of these buses all over Europe. -
• #706
I can't decide if this will be permitted but I can't find the 'cars crashing into brick wall, fence and hedges' thread
-
• #708
Remember the spate of articulated buses catching fire in London?
All motor vehicles can have mechanical malfunctions, but the fact that this one did is probably one of the few exceptions that prove the rule.

Tragic but not without irony

The wall is CLEARLY part of the structure and therefore INTEGRAL to the building:
It's happened 4 times in 5 years:

Here's an unsuccessful ram raid with a moped (after other methods of attack failed, too).
It's worth watching the video to the end, as there's CCTV of what I presume is an earlier, successful raid using a car to break in. It's not explained in the text why that is added on, though. It may be this one:
Previous raids include one on the Chelsea boutique last Christmas Eve, when a van reversed through the glass front and thieves in motorbike helmets grabbed £75,000 worth of designer handbags.

Hm, where's the building?
I suppose there aren't enough crashes into hire bike stations to justify opening a separate thread. :)

This happened in May:
Conflicting reports as to injuries.

Flight leutenant (sp) maclaren having trouble reaching take off speed.... had to use an earth bank to initiate lift off

Thanks, but that didn't actually crash into a building, or did it?
There's a thread for silly ugly expensive nonsense cars here:

the brick thing behind it.....
-
• #718
Ah, that wasn't evident from the pictures. That looks to be a mere structure. :) #threadpassim
Perhaps I should change the thread title to include 'and structures'.
So it was launched into this over an earth bank because of excessive speed?
This seems to be the local news coverage:

Also, it turns out that when you search for 'McLaren Hertfordshire crash' you get quite a few incidents over the last few years. I wonder if that's the same with other counties.

It was here, wasn't it?
90-degree bends in country lanes are probably not too easy to navigate at the kinds of speeds that car is capable of.
-
• #721
bloody hell, you're good!
Yep, see the yellow hydrant plate, his nearside front wheel was planted at the base of the tree just above it......probably lost the front end and understeered. I may have other knowledge of potential reasons for the accident, but not for an open forum.
-
• #722
Oh, it was easy to find considering that the above article gives the name of the road where it happened. As the most likely cause was a bend that the driver couldn't negotiate, the first location I looked at was the one.

• #723
Elementary, my dear Stedlocks!
-
• #724
Indeed. :)

😂 I'm still in awe.....!
Not the case. Insurance companies are obliged to cover any third party claim against a drunk driver. Granted they won't do the fully comp bit, so if you're pissed and smash your car up then that's your problem.
