Just read about him. He wasn't driving, didn't run away from the scene and it was a club sanctioned drinking / bonding session.
I suspect an employment lawyer will be having a conversation with his employers imminently.

Other than the fact that he is Captain and may have different roles and responsibilities, it seems hard to square when the other two have not been sacked.

My understanding is that the club requested that he take a cut in his £25k/wk wage for the year he's going to be off, he refused, then came the sacking.
The pub where the Derby players were drinking is my local, I can recommend it - great selection of beers.
