If I were to move on my 1kg fixed HC wheels, would there be any interest here?
-

I've just had a look at the HC a few of us are doing on Saturday near Alton. 1.9 km long, and doesn't get over 13%.
A very different climb to the short, sharp ones I've been doing recently! Might not even make it into the little ring 😉

It’s a weird one. 400m of shallow / false flat, 500mm of steep but good tarmac, then a 1km false flat drag to the finish. Smash the first half and try and hang on / build up some momentum on the top section.
It’s on Sunday by they way. A friend of mine made the same mistake early in the season, I didn’t correct him in an email and he missed the race!

Maybes. What spec / price?

Chinese tubular rims, lightweight hubs, CX rays. Built by SBC in 2016 and rather embarrassingly nit used since Bank Road national. NOS Vittoria Crono tubulars.
Without tubs:
£300?

Just did Haytor on way home. Good news, very little debris at the moment, a few patches of sweet chestnuts but no mud. The worst potholes have been topped up with tarmac, so that's good. And finally the cattlegrid has go some hastily laid tarmac, also in the worst patches. The second slat(?) is higher than first and third.

Thanks for the info. If the weather isn't too rough I'm planning on riding up a couple of times on Saturday around 3pm.

Lea Valley CC are running their annual hill climb this Sunday on Mott St so if you are not racing the national this year and fancy 2-4 mins of suffering then get down there. It's a super friendly event so don't be intimidated, there will be some faster people but a wide range of abilities.
Online entry here
Sign on at 9:30am at the top of Mott Street (the top of the hill not the junction with the main road).
ALL RIDERS must sign on at the top of Mott Street, 9.30am sign on.
After riding, please hang around and cheer on the other riders, don't forget your cowbells!
After the event we encourage all riders to join us at The Owl from 11.30.
If you have any queries please contact online@leavalleycc.co.uk. -

Yeah, I cancelled my recce due to weather and my cold. Looks not to bad out there now though :/
Still, I imagine a rest day is better for a cold than two or three hours out on the moor. -

Just missed watching any by 7 minutes. Mum was marshalling somewhere, she said it was a bit chaotic with cars climbing slower than riders.

How'd it go?

Absolutely perfect day - bright, clear and sunny with a tailwind to finish. Ed Laverack smashed his course record from last year to take the national title. Alex, Chris and I were all really pleased with our rides I think, despite the sniffly noses.
Great atmosphere in stunning setting, 11/10.
