  • Got a frame with a downtube that has an external diameter of about 32 mm. Plan was to install clamp-on downtube shifters, but needless to say this sizing screwed me over big time, as the standard is 28.6 mm.
    The reason I wanted to go with DT is that they are literally dirt cheap. STIs and bar ends would cost at least 5 times more, and this is a next-to-no-cost project. There are no adapters I could find, or if there are, they cost about as much as a pair of STIs.
    How would you guys bodge this together? For the time being I'm going single speed but that won't cut it in the long run.

  • Yep, I remember, but how did you solve the cable routing though? Edit: checked your thread, full cable housing. I'll have to measure my top tube's diameter, not sure if that's 28.6 either haha.

    @MCamb Very generous, thanks for the offer, but I'm located in Hungary, shipping itself would be killer... 7sp btw.
    I'll might grab a 7sp micronew shifter from AliExpress when things go desperate, they're pretty cheapo. But I definitely want to go bodge route before buying anything.
