Anyone have tried and trusted methods of getting wrist gunk out of bracelets?
My g shock is filth.
It has plastic on the inside and is metal on the outside.
Not 100% sure on how to detach from the watch case. (Screws perhaps, it's an odd setup) -

I got a cheap (£20-£30) ultrasonic cleaner which seems to do pretty well, or a toothbrush (or both).

Soft toothbrush in a bowl of water.

+1 for ultrasonic cleaner. £30 on Amazon - just don't put the whole watch in; the vibrations will almost certainly help water penetrate the seals on a waterproof watch.

I've actually torture tested a watch case by repeatedly cleaning it ultrasonically. Water ingress was never a problem.
What I do worry about is what happens to lube in the movement.
Either way, as you say, bad idea!

Good to know!
Definitely won't be testing it out any time soon though :)

Any recommendations for 34mm/36mm watches under £500? Looking for something to wear everyday, ideally something with a uncomplicated face, preferably hand wound or mechanical, a simple date window would be a plus.
As a reference, currently looking at new Smiths Everest Expedition (worried it might sit too high) and wishing my Dieter Rams Braun hadn’t stop working. I wear a small black Max Bill for shirt and tie days, a I can’t really justify £££ for an Omega Admiralty. I have been considering a vintage Seiko LM 5740 but worried it might turn into a very expensive project.
Please excuse the long rant, just wanted to get ideas, just in case I am missing on some awesome small practical watches that I don’t know about 🤔

Vintage Omega? Something like a Geneve? Should easily get a good one for sub £500.

This. Check out reddit.com/u/kabaclyde
He’s your man when it comes to very affordable vintage Omega.

Report from the Hodinkee / Grand Seiko event last night: the canapés were excellent and I shook Jack Forster’s hand.
The interview was a bit cursory. Jack’s intro had the vibe of a religious cult. The watches were all in cabinets with some of the worst display lighting I think I’ve ever seen. This made photographing or even seeing the watches nearly impossible, though they did have reps taking some of the current models out for people to try on. I handled the Godzilla, mad watch.
The Credors were probably the highlight. Those new enamel dial spring drive Presages were impressive. And the Prospex LX watches are hilariously chunky.
I give it seven Zaratsu polishes out of ten.

You could buy my Lincoln for £150 ono. It was serviced a few months ago and keeps time within 5-10 seconds daily if I remember correctly. Had a new Sternkreuz armoured crystal put on at the time as well. I wore it non-stop for months. It’s a gold plated EPSA Compressor case, so as water-resistant as you can hope for. Roughly 34mm

FWIW I love my 36mm Everest, which has the same case as the Expedition - it's unobtrusive and doesn't sit at all high on the wrist.

Lol wtf that lighting.

It was much, much worse than it looks in those pics. This is a bit more representative.

What a shame about the lighting.

Yeah, it didn’t spoil the evening though. Apart from getting a selfie with JF I had an enjoyable chat with a nice young man from Seiko Japan and a couple of other Seiko nerds (I made the right choice wearing the turtle and not the Rolex). Thanks again for the ticket!

Nice! Would it fit the budget? Any reliable, and affordable, sources?

Soak it in some cola for a while

Great to know, just as a reference do you have the 36mm? How big is your wrist?

Nice but too similar to the Max Bill...
Not gonna argue with that.
