Same thing happened to me ... Did you or @MechaMorgan go straight through SRAM? If so, what email did you use? I bought via Evans.

I went through retailer.

I would recommend going through the retailer tbh. I can't remember who I emailed, was via an account I no longer have access too.

@GoatandTricycle @MechaMorgan Will do cheers

Bar end junction & charger, anyone got spare?

Through the retailer....

Cool thanks @rob_g_clarkson. Dropped off the RD today at Evans who will send back to SRAM so we'll see what happens. Hopefully they replace it and then it smooth sailing from there.

To save me trawling through pages and pages of this thread, are the new Ultregra R8xx rear derailluers backwards compatible?
I think as long as the firmware is the same through the system they'll work with an older junction box, right?

Yes

Thanks.

Is there anywhere sensible to mount the 3 port Di2 junction box other than under the stem? (Obs still need to access charging point) It’s a fortune for the bar end one and I’m not convinced that’s a great place for electrics and expensive things.

I've seen them mounted underneath the saddle which can work well. It's a bit wet under there, potentially, though.

Bro, do you even read my posts. I swapped out my bent older model Ultegra RD for the RD8000 off the Mason and it worked fine.
Oh, I didn't do any firmware anything. Just plugged it in and it worked.

Can you hear something? Like a whiney sound?
-
• #3791
Yeah, that'll be your SRAM servo failing.

I was going to get one of those handlebar end units but then realised that charging on the move during ultra races would be tricky with wires hanging over to the drop. So stuck with the stem mount. Using a K-edge Di2 mount puts it in basically the same place but it's slightly nicer than stem mount because the stem is free to put other stuff on and the K-edge mount will rotate when you pull the bike apart which makes it easier packing.

I use the Fouriers version of that as it's available in -6 and - 17 degree versions and in different lengths.

I don't actually know what brand mine is.

I always wondered why not have it in your bars at the bar end, and then when you need to charge, just take the bar end out, pull out the junction and charge.
Not great for trimming the mechs on the go but it's not like that's necessary very often.

I'm gonna try putting it in the seat post, in line with the battery. So long as I remember to mark the seat post height when taking it out to charge every 3-4 months, should be fine.
Only thing I'll lose is the option for on the fly trimming the rear mech, but once set, it's very rare that that needs to happen

You've not seen my ride (or park up a bike) have you?

What was wrong with your RD?
Mine sometimes "goes to sleep" for want of a better word. Just doesn't shift when requested. The green light flashes so it's recognising an input from the shifters but it does precisely nowt. Lasts about 30s (might be less but seems like ages at the time), then comes back to life. When it wakes up again it always shifts down a cog, regardless of the click storm I've given it whilst asleep. Then it works fine again. Until the next time.
Sound familiar? They've requested it back. Faff!
I had not thanks
