There are loads of threads on here of people discussing the interests that unite them, from riding bikes to reading books. The difference between those threads and this one is that people don't post transphobic, homophobic, body shaming, rape positive shit in those so generally don't present opportunities to be called out on being nobheads.

And if you believe that people on here refusing to put up with bigotry is a "forum ill" then maybe you should just fuck off?

Yeah I think Senior_Bear's joke was a cunty post, floating in a sea of equally cunty posts that have been made at some point by people who now prefer to pretend they didn't (or are just pretending they have changed...) but equally, the career parsimony of William. and his ilk, no matter how 'right' it might be in a political sense, makes me retch a bit now and is equally unpleasant to see.

Maybe it's Brexit, maybe we've all just gotten older, but this place used to be much fucking funnier-now it's just like buying a vegan sausage roll from Greggs and finding out it's still cold in the middle or popping to the local for a sly pint for the first time in ages and finding that the only people stood at the bar are the people you can't fucking stand.

The place has changed significantly, I seem to to remember lots of paedo bear jokes etc when I first joined. There used to be many more off key posts and that rough and tumble humour was part of the forum. Over time this has changed and I think a few of us have been caught off guard as social standards have changed (and generally improved). These days we are a much more informed and possibly less exclusive bunch of people.

I don’t get the impression that @Señor_Bear meant to cause such upset by posting a poor taste joke.

I took his enquiry re why “gammon” as a term is tolerated here to be genuine and not simply stirring. However I can see how the continued aggression towards him might make it harder for him to back. It is sad to see how the aggressive divisive tone of public discussion has become so entrenched here too.

Called out by a clique of several people who make a point of 'calling me out' whenever I point out their own transgressions such as eh, trolling the depression thread for lols or making light about the holocaust who then accuse me of 'stalking them' because I have a memory that functions well enough to remember who they are even after a few user id changes.

Forgive me for taking their opinions with a pinch of salt, and forgive me for not taking your objections seriously too. AndyP, Chalfie, T_W and yourself can stand stroking your beards at me as much as you like, I may be an utter arsehole in many ways but you lot are beyond the fucking pale.

Well reasoned, thoughtful post. there is bandwagoning from all sides and when everyone piles into one person, however 'correct' the initial motives, it ceases to be constructive. I know I've been guilty of this at times.
