turns out that light was gubbed in any case - have ordered a replacement (solarstorm X2). are there any recommended cree/chinese rear lights?

Four years ago! I think I still have one (maybe both). No idea if they still work but you can probably have one or both since I seem to own enough lights to facilitate a small town.

Missus just checked. One of them still works and it has the mount.

Does anybody know where I can get one of those big rear lights, which are shaped like a small torch / like the things flight controllers have?
Or any rear light that has a big lit area basically?
Ideally one that an be USB-recharged and strapped to the biek / bag.

Big area thing that's COB? I like my kryptonite things or the knog+ are alright for little'ns and the new knog cobbers look decent.

Chip On Board, lots of dinky LEDs over a bigger area rather than one big one, I reckon they're better for "be seen' lights, with a nice big visible area, so especially good at the rear.
Cobbers are pricey but the + is decent enough and really handy, clips onto stuff or magnetically into little holder, USB plug built in so no need to remember charger, decent pulse mode.

..no, they were really shaped like those things above, bit smaller though, went also behind the seatpost. Have seen them in Berlin a few times..

Just to clarify though - I don't necessarily need one exactly like that - they just looked cool when I saw them and fit the bill in regards of having a rather large, bright area.
Ideally it would be much larger even - like, say, an iPhone - that just displays a bright red screen.

These are decent, come with little clippy slide on back or silicon attachy thing. Nice and bright and pulsey modes.

Moon Orion is cheap, bright, good.

The jobsworth 800/1000 no external battery packs. Has anyone used them?
I bought a magicshine external battery pack about 2 years ago, which I used with a cheapo cree.
I like the look of the magicshine lights on px atm, but external cabling is really doing my head in. does anyone know how long the cable is?
I'm not sure I want to have another cabled light, as the last one the cable ripped out, are there any small handlebar bags/something that won't make me look like i'm into groad / a tridonk? (I'd put the battery in one of those)

Alternatively - does anyone want to buy my battery pack?

Yeah, I 've got one of thsoe for looking after my phone while I turbo. Not sure it's exactly what I'm after.
