I'm inclined to agree. It's a Paragon Machine Works item, and it works perfectly well, but I've never understood why builders leave the long flat plate section on the DS chainstay. It's necessary on the NDS as that's where the flat mount caliper mount lives, but on the DS it just seems unnecessarily fugly. Other than that, I don't find them too offensive.
I think it also comes down to how the transition between the stay and the drop out plate is managed. If it's nicely slotted and brazed on it can actually look okay, but if there is a visible ugly weld joint it just looks bad.
