  • Any recomendations for tyres to go gravel on a cube sl pro?
Right now fitted with Schwalbe Kojak, Active, 35x622

  • Have a look at the previous page in case you´re after something a bit faster than Kojaks but in similar width. Samuli is a Finnish ultra endurance cyclist who rode this year´s Transcontinental Race on those confusingly named Continentals.

  • I want some winter/commuting tyres and have been looking at the Gravelking 32mm slicks. I’ve read reports that they come up narrower than advertised, but not sure if this is still the case with the newer tubeless version. Anyone had any experiences?

  • Seems to be either or. I've had mine on tubeless for two years, with now a massive flat top on both, running around 55psi for commuting and they've been flawless. I can actually lean in the wet!
If I can't get the Strada Biancas in TLR when they come out, I'm going back to these.

  • Why not marathon supreme?

  • I asked this not that long ago but lost track - I’m after some decent 23mm gumwalls clinchers, anyone have any Vittoria corsa going spare? Anyone seen any good deals on any 23mm gumwalls? Don’t have clearance for anything larger :(
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • You can´t squeeze in some Conti GP Classics (25 mm nominal) then? They seem to get positive reviews in the usual German cycling supermarkets where the going rate is just over 20 euros a pop.

  • Really like the Pirellis cinturato tubeless tyres, only done about 300 mile so far, but the ride very nicely.

  • Any thoughts on how they compare to GP4S? Wondering if it’s worth the upgrade...

  • Yes, that was what my first set was like.

Actually being too cheap to buy any more tyres for a while, I've stuck a thick puncture repair patch on the inside of the tyre under the cut and this seems to have sorted it. The last time I tried this failed totally, but I went to a bit more effort cleaning up the inside of the tyre first this time and it held without any issues for the whole of the ride I did yesterday.

  • Anyone have any experience with the Panaracer GravelKing SK+ TR 650b yet? The 48c model with the puncture protection?

  • Never used gp4s, sorry I can't compare for you.

  • No worries. The Pirelli seem to have pretty favourable reviews, so might give them a go if I spot them on offer somewhere. Thanks

  • Read through several pages of this thread but just want to know specifically what people use for commuting, in london with shards of glass everywhere etc.

I've been using 25/23mm gators on my road bike but am building up a commuter that can fit up to 30mm tyres (possibly 28+guards).

  • those marathon things in 30/35c don't take any shit. You won't win any TTs but damn they laugh at glass

  • i still swear by lifeline's prime armour road. no visitations in about 7000km, and only used for commuting. they were looking really rough before i changed them for another pair.

  • Yeah, Schwalbe marathon green guard in 28mm have never punctured for me - probably 4000miles on them. However they're not that sprightly so I'm currently riding 28mm Rolly Polys from planet x, they've been on for close to 900 miles with no punctures, but are probably not as sturdy as the marathon.

  • seen a few others singing their praise, cheap too!

  • I asked a short while ago about the Conti GP Urban and took a punt on them last week. So far, I must say I'm impressed.
They roll nice and easy, they're a nice soft rubber compound, 35mm is spot on size wise for me to fit under guards, they have a reflective strip that is black when not lit up. And most importantly they've been plenty grippy even handling a bit of unexpected muddy byway this week.
Got them less than 20 quid a tyre from Evans
Also they have an awesome tread pattern

  • What rim and whats actual width are you getting?

  • I can't see these on the evans website at all.

  • My stash of Voyager Hypers has finally run out.

I still have some knackered 32s, new 35s and the missus is riding a 42 at the moment.

I'm all about the Pro4 Endurance now.

  • 35mm claimed come up 34mm on a Kinlin XR31 rim.

  • They're thinner than 4000s. That's how they get the lower Crr.

  • I raced one around Spain and Portugal this year after Samuli mentioned them in the Ultra thread or TCR thread.
