£150 for a Boost hardtail frame is pretty unbeatable surely

All the crazy pricing aside, on what level are the bikes? Decent enough? Compared to canyon?

I grabbed one of these - delivery expected in the next couple of weeks. The price was too good to miss and the chance to build up something new for the price of a non-future-proofed (read: no boost) second hander was too good to pass up.
They're churning out reasonable RS shocks as well. Got some Judy Gold's for £144 the other day to chuck on this frame. Pair of boost wheels for a smidge under £85 from CRC and a quick raid of the parts bin and I've got a reasonable bike for the Mrs that I can 'borrow' too.
Think I'll be in £450 at the end of the day, for a bike even PX is selling for £999. I call that a win.

Not quite the same level of ‘fit and finish’ as a spesh/canyon/giant but 95% as good for a fraction of the price in some cases and most importantly more than adequate and capable for us mere mortals.

Plenty good enough.
Built an OnOne DeeDar for a customer a while back and and it was every bit as good as a Stanton I built the day before in terms of straightness, feel on test ride, threads/facing chasing etc.

Sounds great.
Am holding out for a Big Dog myself, hope the price is as good!

Hmm, fancy a bootzipper but don't fancy new wheels.
-
• #713
shit. This makes it hard to resist one. Even though I haven't been on a mtb in ages.

Big Dog will be £175. Would be foolish not to!
@umop3pisdn I think the 29er and 650b Bootzipper have different axles
-
• #715
29er is Boost - I have 100/135 QR wheels. Can get adaptors for about £50 though.
-
• #716
UPDATE: Code HOTDOG now offers frame at £175
-
• #717
At that price I should just buy one as its basically what I need although I'd like to try and make my own even though its gonna cost a load more in Columbus 29er

What happened to your Prone?
It's not especially nice tubes:
The same spec of tubing could be badged "Reynolds 520" if we paid them $5 for a sticker for it. But we don't.
So you could buy one of these, build it up, then replace the frame with a self-built one with nicer tubes? Match up the seat tube, BB, axles, etc. and you can do a straight swap

That's what I'm doing with the Prone. Its pretty sweet and really light but it doesn't fit quite right so I'm gonna rebuild it in steel with tweeks.

Buy one of these, save for tubes for a DIY one, then convert the Big Dog into @BareNecessities ' 90°ST/45°HA dream bike.
-
• #721
I will just save for the tubes without buying this :)

• #722
Hotdog = big dog = 650b though.
-
• #723
29 also
-
• #724
29 = bootzipper = UNZIP = £225
Plus £20 postage, thanks On One
