I get on on with my MBP keyboard, it’s not great but it’s not as shit as -say- a Dell.
My old MBA keyboard was way better, but there you go.

Is there some software that lets me back up and restore iphones without requiring itunes out there? I'm sick and tired of it.
-
• #14560
Used to be one called PhoneView that appears to still exist. Lets you access some elements like messages, media directly and save them. Might suit your needs.

Didn't think you needed iTunes anymore. I've not got it.
Backup to iCloud, restore from iCloud. If you're moving to a new phone then they can transfer between phones using some combination of NFC/Bluetooth/Wireless/Magnets. -

This I think? I haven't touched iTunes in years and I've gotten a new phone in the meantime
-

Yeah as others have said, iCloud does it all now, but... you'll prob need to be paying for it to get enough space for a full back up.

I was going to argue this morning about having to pay for multiple storage services and data privacy. Fuck it all, I've paid. That was such a monumental hassle to try to do this the old school way.
Spent all morning downloading patches, updates and fixing errors. When did it all get so complicated. -

Ha, yeah I resisted for a while... but once its all up and running iCloud is actually mint, plus I trust Apple with data gubbins more than anyone else.

hello LFGSS, i'm currently running Mavericks on a mid-2010 MacBook pro; it mostly works fine but now i need to update as various apps no longer support mavericks. I've tried to do this through the app store but it doesn't seem to be working—what should be the next course of action?
I'm pretty sure High Sierra is the most up-to-date OS my laptop will support; should I simply purchase one of these?

'Ello 'ello.
I saw a chap on this forum some months back who was enthusiastic about repairing Mac computers but sadly can't find any of his threads. I remember him selling off some older models which had been fully serviced and were at a very reasonable price. Good vibes.
Does anyone know anyone particularly savvy?
I've been running OSX from an external hard drive for the past few years due to a hardware fault in my late 2013 iMac which prevents standard booting. I'm looking for someone who might be able to sort this and also do a general service plus some backing up for me.
It's got to a stage where I'm struggling with old versions of Chrome as I can't update OSX.
Any recommendations most appreciated. Cheers!

Did Apple get rid of their distinctive scent when opening a new Apple product?
I was a bit disappointed when my sister got the new iPhone and it didn't smell at all. -

Please help.
I have a wired apple keyboard on my iMac. The 1,Q,A and Z keys have stopped working. I've tried cleaning it and blasting it with compressed air but it hasn't helped.
Any suggestions for how to fix this? -

As you’re using an UltraFine, maybe you’re able to give me some pre-purchase monitor advice.
Looking to get a 4K USB-C monitor to connect to an iPad Pro. I do some photo work and retouching but not that much, I reckon that will probably be less than 30% of the time. The rest of the time I’ll probably just use it to watch Netflix etc.
As far as I can see I have two options in the £4o0-£600 price range:
The 23.7 4K LG UltraFine from Apple - £629
https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/HMUA2B/A/lg-ultrafine-4k-display
Or
The LG 27UL850 - £459
https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-27UL850More PPI on the UltraFine but bigger bezels and more spendy.
Would you think an UltraFine would be wasted for the kind of use I’m describing? Have you or anyone else here used the other LG screen?
There’s a 100% rated seller on eBay selling “pristine” refurbished UltraFine’s for £499, which is a great price, but I think I’m too wary to shell out that kind of money and have no warranty.
TL;DR - Are the LG Ultrafine’s worth the premium price over other LG monitors?

Thanks!
Macbook 12 has an earlier version of your MBP/butterfly keyboard, not a 'proper' (2012 MacBook retina era) keyboard.
