Very easily get loud with old Peavey, Sunn or Acoustic Control Corp solid state amps. And they’re fairly reliable. Unfortunately they’re also getting more expensive.
I’ve been using a secondhand 70’s Acoustic 470 solid state amp for bass (not doom, but loud stuff) for 10 years or so with no issues.
Two piece, instrumental bass and drums. I played a Kramer 450b aluminium neck bass into the Acoustic and two EV TL606 15” speaker cabs. Pedals used were a Tronographic Rusty Box, Boss bass overdrive, Boss DD5 digital delay, MXR Distortion+ and a custom Rat clone.
